The cost of promotion for the Cherries is already mounting up.
Kenwyn Jones on loan from Cardiff since end of January and has only played 45 mins = £600k plus wages. Cardiff charged £350k signing on and £250k if Cherries got promoted.
Callum Wilson, signed from Coventry for £3m. A 'six figure sum' bonus to Cov in realising a clause in selling him.
Artur Boruc, although no mention of any bonus due to The Saints, I bet it is another 'six figures'.
Things Cherries have to do:
Under soil heating
New flood lights (apparently this is due to HD cameras being used for Prem League!)
100x New press stations complete with HD TVs and all the hard wiring that is required
Goal Line Technology
On another note, I read quite a few times yesterday that they may not increase the capacity of stadium to 15,000. This would cost £1.8m with a revenue gain of £900k over the season. This is not the real issue. Apparently if the south end is enlarged this is where all the away support would be seated, and Eddie Howe does not want any away support behind the goal.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -

It seems that he does have influence on this. He thinks that it gives and advantage to the away team to have their supporters behind a goal. Possibly correct. But then I notice that a lot of away support in the Prem Lge is either in a corner or up in the gods (Newcastle).Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -
If Boro don't make it in play-offs. Want chance of the Cherries getting Bamford on loan?Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0

That's why they're in very advanced negotiations to ground share at St Mary's for at least one season.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Thats also about fleecing away supporter as you can charge them more than the equivalent seats sold to home fans. Behind the goal is the traditional cheap seats, if you put them on a "long side" but towards the corner you can charge premium price and keep more cheap seats for your home fans.Bianchi Infinito CV

Not going to happen. Look at Eibar in La Liga. Capacity just over 5,000. Small can be advantageous.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -

I suggest that you look a little deeper into Eibar and the Spanish League and it's rules, regulations and funding before making irrelevant comparisons. As a shareholder that recently went to Madrid to see them take on Real I may have a little more knowledge about the subject.
So explain to me exactly how you will have Dean Court up to the required standards in three months* - and if you think the PL WON'T bow down to their financial paymasters and stop you being promoted because you haven't got a suitable ground in time then think again!
*which clearly AFCB aren't convinced about because, whether you like it or not, negotiations are at a very advanced stage to share St Mary's or at least one season.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

There are no minimum capacity standards for the Prem Lge now, only technical and press requirements. There has been no news of any threat to stop the Cherries promotion. Get your facts right.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0

True, Boro form has not been good recently but our play off place was guaranteed already so maybe they felt there was not a lot to play for today. Anyway, onwards to the play off lottery and I may be happy for other reasons tomorrow"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Well the local police are a little relieved that the Norwich games have fallen into the early Saturday slots, they really wouldn't have fancied them getting the Friday night games. It's going to be fun at work next week watching the City fans getting more edgy as the weekend approaches.0

Going back to Ground requirements, Brentford still have terracing I believe and 12,500 max capacity, if they make it up via the playoffs. I think that would be a bigger concern than Bournemouth's ground.Bianchi Infinito CV

And another £500k floats out of the finance department window at Dean Court. This time on Tokelo Rantie! Who the f**k is that you may ask. I think most Cherries supporters are too. Signed from Malmo for £3.5m with a promotion clause on the contract, he is a South African who previously played for the Stars of Africa. A very expensive lesson learnt by the Cherries in never to sign a striker that performs well in an inferior league.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0

It's often quoted that clubs will make 60,80,100,120 million etc out of the Premier League, but the reality is that many clubs end up in more debt unless they can stay up for a few years.
Bournemouth are going to have to spend millions on the ground, and probably actually lose capacity in regards to supporters seating. Floodlights, underground heating, extra seating for media, catering and technology for the above. Then the existing players will be rewarded with bonuses and a pay rise. Any new players will demand huge wages to be enticed to a club that in all likelihood will struggle next year and if they were relegated, chances are that the wages would still be huge.0 -

A couple of things - we'll put it down to your over-exuberance at your promotion.
1. Please feel free to point out where I mentioned capacity. It's your obsession, not mine.
2. Absolutely, and it's precisely those technical & press requirements that have seen them in negotiations with SFC for a ground share.
3. No there hasn't, that's because the PL are well aware of the plans that they have for both the ground improvements and the contingency should that not happen on time.
When you've calmed down a bit, feel free to pop back if you want a rational discussion. Perhaps you'd like to include how you're going to achieve all those measures in the time and why your board is already in advanced discussions with SFC when they don't need to be.
Oh, and just so that you know, the Madrid vs Eibar game was excellent. The atmosphere amongst the fans was great despite the result and there was plenty of interest in the "crazy English" that had bought shares in their club.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Still no mention at all in any news threads of ground sharing with The Saints. Would have thought a leak would have been apparent by now.
However I am now going to come down off cloud 9, as I have read a few things today that should worry any Cherries fan. Firstly another £10m+ loss for previous season. The owners loan of £25m is repayable in 2 years!! No plans to improve the stadium (other than PL Tech requirements) and money to be spent on replacing the 7 players released today.
I will look forward to next season and it will be great to see them at Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford et all. But I have a nagging feeling that the owner is an Oyston Mk2.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -

Don't forget inflated transfer fees when the club enquires about possible signing and the selling club knows you have PL income.0 -
Nearly fell of my chair whilst choking on my cornflakes, after reading that Cherries are looking at signing Micah Richards. As if? My advice is NO. NO. NO. Do not sign anyone who has been a fringe Prem player, it will end up bankrupting the club and do nothing for team morale.
Both Cherries and Watford should be looking at Championship players who missed out on promotion this season or those that are rising stars in that league. They will be hungry for success, unlike many Prem also rans that are content with warming the bench and collecting a weighty weekly pay packet.
You only have to read comments made by Kenwyn Jones who went on load to Cherries for last couple of months. Apparently he was shocked/amazed at the work ethic the players put in for training! and the attention to detail that Howe put in for each match and for each players programme on and off the pitch.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -
Never mind that, as Bournemouth have been promoted you need to change the thread title. If my lot don't get the third promotion spot I reckon it should be renamed as the Boro thread"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0
