Good result for Boro.
'Great Day' I presume you are referring to the election. I reserve judgement on that, but better than Ed & Ed in power.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -

Mr Goo wrote:Nearly fell of my chair whilst choking on my cornflakes, after reading that Cherries are looking at signing Micah Richards. As if? My advice is NO. NO. NO. Do not sign anyone who has been a fringe Prem player, it will end up bankrupting the club and do nothing for team morale.
Both Cherries and Watford should be looking at Championship players who missed out on promotion this season or those that are rising stars in that league. They will be hungry for success, unlike many Prem also rans that are content with warming the bench and collecting a weighty weekly pay packet.
You only have to read comments made by Kenwyn Jones who went on load to Cherries for last couple of months. Apparently he was shocked/amazed at the work ethic the players put in for training! and the attention to detail that Howe put in for each match and for each players programme on and off the pitch.
The are now rumours linking you with Berbatov. One of the laziest players I've witnessed in the last ten years in the PL. Who is in charge of your recruitment, does the manager get the final say in everything?0 -

I flippin hope that King Eddie of Wessex doesn't go daft and panic. Don't think he will, be these rumours are very worrying. Berbatov is on £100k per wk at Monaco. Cherries don't have that kind of money.
Even more concerning is links to Defoe, Martins, Distin.... all experienced, all NOT suitable for Cherries. They need to look at the Championship top players, or those Prem players on their way down ie Charlie Austin.
I have read over the last couple of days that Zubar, signed by AFCB whilst Eddie Howe was at Burnley, and who has not played since 2012 has just been given a further 12mths on his contract. This due to the previous chairman that agreed to a promotion clause!!!Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -
Waney. Onwards to the final to play some team with webbed feet and six fingers on each hand."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

Well Stevo it's the chance for the men of Norfolk to take their sisters on a day out beyond the county boundaries, Incest is Best is the motto round here. You forgot to mention the gills behind the ears by the way. Very useful when cycling up North in grim weather.0 -

Just hoping there is some entertainment to be had in the game and it's not an overly cagey dull affair. A few from work have travelled so although I could hardly call myself a Norwich fan I wouldn't like them to have a long depressing journey back. Got to get a few chores done before heading to the pub to watch it.0

ONYN (oh no your not! ) I think you need to find some creativity in midfield from what I saw today. One happy web footed, six fingered father in law in the house tonight. Must check my kids hands and feet again given the part Norfolk genes they have.0 -
Second Norwich goal was excellent, pinging it about throughout the oppositions half before a tidy finish, would've have been raved about if it was scored by some of the European powerhouses.
The lack of response from Boro was surprising, they were never in the game. That's football for you, one off games are a lottery of sorts.
Steve Gibson deserves a mention, apparently he shook the hand of every Norwich player who walked past as they picked up the trophy (a trophy for third, what nonsense) and it's one thing the two teams today have in common, owners who actually gives a monkeys and are decent. Delia Smith gets a lot of stick from outsiders but people like herself and Gibson are the kind of owners Hull and Newcastle fans are crying out for.0 -
I hope that Norwich enjoy their season in the Premier League"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

Well Stevo, looking on the bright side, you will be able to enjoy another Championship thread next season.0

He would have anyway, he'd have just picked another team to support in the Champs if Boro had gone up.
Na'arch were excellent, but they should have been, they're fundamentally the same team that went down a season ago (which shows the gulf between the leagues) and Boro were one dimensional. I had to laugh at some of the gossip linking Luongo and Gladwin with moves to the PL - they were terrible. It was also very obvious that Bamford still has a way to go before he goes back to Stevo's no. 1 (or is it no. 2) club!
Good to see that Boruc has signed for Ballmouth on a permanent deal. He was excellent for us and deserves 1st team football in the PL and having released him it wasn't a surprise to see them pick him up immediately.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Sorry to see that Boro didn't make it Stevo. From what I here they didn't make much of a fist of it.
I am now waiting to see if Bamford gets some interest from the Cherries. A year long loan signing for him would be the smartest bit of business for Cherries. Far better than being lumbered with an over 30s striker, whose wage demands could cripple the club.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -

Bamford would be good for you lot regardless of price, he's a great young player. I hope he stays with 'Boro but doubt it as José has said that he wants him to get PL experience before he plays for Chelsea."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." Well looks like at least one Chelski player is on their way to Bournemouthingrad (Russian owner too).
Christian Atsu (Ghana). I've never heard of him. Chelski signed him from Porto and he has been on load ever since. Bamford to follow? Hope so. Get some good loanees for a year, without fear of being bankrupted by them if relegation follows (ever the optimist).Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -

Derby v The 'Boro tonight - should be a good one to watch. Unfortunately I won't be able to.
@ Goo - you need to change the thread title, at least for this season How about The Championship (mainly 'Boro) thread?"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
What the hell has Lee Tomlin been eating up at Boro? Kebabs for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner? Vanessa Phelps is more svelte. Does he think the proliferation of tattoos will break up the fat lines? When he came on as sub against Liverscouse the cameras had to go to wide angle.
Eddie Howe needs to get him on a fitness and diet plan pretty pronto.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -

Some deadline day fun and games:
"There is one great story. It involves Middlesbrough and a left winger called Carlos de Pena. He is a busy little player. On Saturday it looked like this deal was on so he was taken out of Nacional's squad. On Sunday, the deal had collapsed. All over. On Monday, the club get a call from his agent saying he is on his way to England but the club said no. The player drove off and promptly got himself in a car accident with him and his mother in the car. Nothing serious as he is allowed out of hospital pretty soon after and he leaves his mum there, goes back to the airport and without Nacional's permission flies to Middlesbrough. I can't remember anyone being so desperate to get to Middlesbrough since Chris Rea was driving home for Christmas.""I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Tim reminded me I need to post here. Bit quiet now Goo has gone up a league.
Well done the Boro, only 2 points behind the Seagulls now. We'll lure them in with a bag of chips and a melted ice cream then throttle the bastards"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0
