Do you live in London short? If not, it is definitely ironic that that bothers you.

You're leaning against an open door there, matey. That situation really boils my urine. Not just Nicky the Fish either, but Jones the Assembly and Paddy Stormont too.

Well angling is now an allowed activity. And quite an easy one by the look of things

I see us as remaining and the liggers all leaving. Though if we left we could leave them with the debt.

The hedonism promoted in the 80's has now extended to i'm alright Jack - let's go it alone. Independent Engerland and then when you're not content with your lot or fed up of dragging the Northern knuckle draggers along, you can make the home counties a new independent state. ...and when that doesn't work, you can make create the Republic of Kent or Surrey or...

For a long time now (since I was 46 if you really want to work it out) it has vexed me that I was born closer to the end of the world war than to the present day.

It's a good job we're too thick to understand.

Well, SC, a fair distribution of wealth benefits the whole nation's economy. Most countries in Europe have a wealthier half - Northern Germany, Northern Italy etc.
You seem to think that the Northern knuckle dragging economy does not generate any income. The investment has been bias towards the south east - which mainly benefits from financial services anyway.
How do you think those NKD's feel about the collapse of traditional industry that has never been replaced? Should we over populate the already over populated south east and have you whinging about the influx?

Nicola Sturgeon is simply holding a gun to the head of any incumbent PM and any self-respecting first minister should do the same. Whether you think that is just or not, is immaterial, such is the dichotomy of the more socialist Scotland and the disparity in wealth created by successive Westminster administrations.
We have a fantastic Whisky industry (generating £5.5bn), exports of Salmon (£2bn) and various sea foods plus tourism (£10.5bn).
The North West of England - Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Liverpool contributed £199bn to the UK economy in 2017. The North is not a negative contributor to the economy, it simply does not generate as much per capita. Therefore, we are not 'liggers' as you say.

I wonder whether the term 'ligger' should also be applied to home counties types who travel into London for their well paid jobs? (Or used to until a couple of months ago).

If you'd added the North East you could have rounded it up to £200bn and made it look better.

Maybe they understand what irony means?

A bunch of people wanting to leave a political union because they are getting more in than they are getting out are also part of a political union into which they are net recipients. I never mentioned Scotland but yes their position is also ironic.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
