An endoscopic colonoscopy fibre optic camera insertion device? :D

Question...would that be the only time the average person gets any fibre in there? :D

Is it a salt (or pepper) cellar?

Depth gauge of some sort. looks like its made from a bastardised micrometer. After your last one I wonder if its anything to do with fishing? Although I can't imagine how.

Is it used to measure the thickness of a twenty pence piece??

I was getting excited about the salt cellar idea - maybe it was a gizmo that measured the thickness of your bacon and then dispensed the appropriate quantity of salt

If you use that to measure rim wear you really need to get out more. But it wouldn't be right for that anyway. Is it used to measure wear in something?

    nothing yet.

What it measures is a difference on a certain object, and from this you can work out something else.

Looks a bit like a Sag gauge (sagitta) for measuring the curvature of a spherical surface (I used to use them when I was in optical manufacturing).
You can use the measurement to calculate the curve expressed in dioptres.

That's the bunny. Measuring the radius of curvature of lenses is what I use it for too.

    Over to you Graham

    A depth gauge for Jordan?

Edit Sorry, my mistake. It's not attached to a plank.

I'm guessing it is for measuring the internal diameter of round objects in millimeters. But what those objects are I have no notion, except that they are probably soft due to the lack of apparent wear.

Well yes, it's for measuring internal diameters, and yes of softish material.
It's quite an antiquated item and was used in the same industry as the last object, ie ophthalmic optical manufacturing....enough clues?

edit. Not necessarily "Round objects" but certainly curves.
