Went straight over a couple of manhole covers. Probably leant over due to the first then slipped right over on the second.

Very poor show by them. Luck of the Irish.

Only four of their riders upright. They might all be outside the time limit at this rate.

Martin will be out, Haas pedalling one legged and another rider just hanging around. What's the time limit rule in a TTT?

25% I think. That's the ITT cut off.

They keep saying Martin is team leader but presumably it is Ryder?

    Just awful luck.

or poor road quality more like

Looked like his hand slipped off the bars on a bad manhole cover, rather than a tyre slide per se, to me.

Looks like they've let 9 commuters have a go at the race. Good to see.

What a disaster for Garmin, and for Dan Martin and a huge disappointment for the Irish crowds.

Would be nice if BMC beat Orica.

Super close but also means BMC dont have to defend the jersey.

Team Commuter have a breakaway rider with a couple of seconds lead.

I notice BMC put Evans in a different coloured helmet, presumably so he's easy for the others to spot in case of difficulty.

So Evans has 50 seconds on Quintana? That makes it interesting.

Cadel can be notoriously touchy - perhaps nobody dared tell him to wear the official kit?

That's pretty handy gap for 25 mins work. He'll be happy.

I did consider that it might just be him being awkward. Still, it's a good idea.

Neat by Astana but I think on the final few turns fewer riders can be an asset. I'll be pleased for Svein Tuft if he gets pink. A real workhorse and he's a friend of a friend.
