  • I've started to play catch up on recording.
Blimey, it's going to be another long session.
Loving how much of this race is getting live coverage.
Looks a lot more nippy out there, today.

Gescke's beard makes it look like a swarm of bees has attached themselves to his face.
  • Too many beards this season - Wiggins, Paolini, Gescke, Sagan (or has that gone?). Fine for the off-season but things are starting to get serious.

Only been 1 or 2 acceptable beards in the pro peloton - best was this:

Not to forget the 'taches, à la Lachlan Morton.

Apparently there's a bike race on too, 5 man break still at 1:20 with 18km to go. Climb starts at 11km to go

You could clearly see that Wiggins is on the chunky side atm.
Don't know why folks expect him to be doing much in mid-February.

Would you expect Great Champions like Contador and Valverde to do nothing in Feb? Or spirited amazing young riders like Quintana and Kwia to sit back ride wheels then tail off when the road goes upward?

I care at all about Wiggins - even if he was 100% form he isn't much of a watch for the fans - but if everyone was pedaling like him then what would be the point of watching until the Classics?

Haha, classic. They were maybe great champions when they were on the sauce but not now.

Anyway on the riding. Movistar played a blinder and to me it shows they have learnt from stage 8 of the tour last year. As I said earlier in the thread, the Great champion Valverde knows this will be probably his only win this year and is it not his home race, or at least where he trains. He's riding it like a any home national rides their own home race.

Few different teams fighting to the front now, as the gap dips below 1:00

Sky nicely arranged in height order.
  • OK - we're about to see Wiggins do some team work!
  • Movistar on the front all day controlling before Wiggins comes to the front with 10ks to race.
    Contador is the Greatest
  • You see, Brad's read the forum and taken the advice.
  • Phew my research call ended just in time. It was a 40km long phone call.
    Correlation is not causation.
  • 1.6km on the front. Not too bad.

    Zubeldia gone.

Was that a giant ham at the side of the road?
    Correlation is not causation.
  • Robo-Kiryienka on the front now - Pete K, Geraint & Porte in line behind. Al Valverde shadowing Porte.
  • Kiry is so classy.
    Correlation is not causation.

    Arredondo is there for Trek.

It flattens out in a minute for a wee while.

It then ramps up. Porte will have to attack there if anywhere.
    Correlation is not causation.
  • Factory boys rotating just like the master asked them to. Peloton decimated. Poor riders. Valverde for the win.
