I have 2.35 Hans Dampfs, which are very large, and there's plenty of room
How far are you off your build been finished ? It will be nice to see it built up in green ! I was torn between the green and orange, even after I had ordered the orange I was still thinking have I chose the right colour ! I was made up when it came, they look even better in the flesh (as to speak) . Ordered a invisitape kit then it's ready to go !

Fork should be here in a week or two, so I'll get it built then :)
  • In the mean while us fellow Covert 27.5 owners will keep hijacking your build thread!

    Haha, it doesn't bother me

It's great to see the others and how similar the custom builds are

Short of carbon, the Pike, Shimano/sram and Hope hoops seems the best combo
  • Your right, the builds all seem to be of similar spec so far!

    Hope / Stans Flows
    Pikes
    Reverbs

Im staying on my XT Double for now, wait and see what Shimano Do with the 1 x, and also what the Hope front rings get reviewed like.

I agree with that, if Shimano make a 1x11 at XT price point I would certainly be interested
But 2x10 will do for now
  • Well to be honest I also don't want the lugs and mount for the front derailleur left unused... Looks odd

Quick update; The forks are due in stock next week

So I'll have them end of next week or 2 weeks at most
Once they arrive I'll start the build and have it finished
  • Sounds good! Had a quick look at my pikes in the shop the other day and they look and feel nice!
  • Have your forks turned up yet?

    HiBike, a German company

I can't blame them however, they've been very polite and informative with my emails and it seems to be the supplier taking the time..

They were however very quick with the delivery of my tyres, faster than CRC!

30lb would be a good weight....

whats your tyre clearance like on the rear?
Had it on the scales in the bike shop it is bang on 31lb with pedals .
  • Mine came in at 31.5 with pedals!

    Sorry to interrupt

Fork has been dispatched! Via DHL
With any luck should be built up Saturday,
2 metres of heli tape coming tomorrow so I'll get the underside of the downtube, the toptube and headtube taped up

Also got some Teva links and a giro feature arriving so I'll be set to go this weekend (I hope)

    Long story..

Ordered some DPA in black, waited ages.. Then they told me the due date is 30/04/14 !

So I changed to order to solo air and they've removed the black DPA, I'm guessing cause it's a while till stock is in

    Nearly built it

Just need to sort out the cables and gears
But I need to get a power link remover tool as I need to sort the chain

If it's a power link you don't need a tool? Unless it needs shortening, then you'll need a chain breaker. Do all SRAM chains have a power link when you buy them?

If it's 10 speed sram they can be a bugger to remove.

Ah, with my 9 speed the power link can be removed by pushing both ends together easily enough. I do also have a chain breaker with me in case a mate needs it

I've got a full Shimano drivetrain except the chain

I went for a KMC X10.93, I shortened it and was a bit of an idiot and treaded it through the mech wrong :|
I can't get it apart with my fingers so I need to get a link splitter
