I've never needed two bottles on the turbo before - but I did for Angels and the Hunted last night. And I used energy drink.

Looking forward to "just" 100 minutes tonight...

I see Violator opens at 10am tomorrow - does that mean the earliest I can start is 10am or the earliest I can finish is 10am ?

I'm guessing its start isnt it ?

10am is earliest start time. Well you could risk it but I wouldn't :-)

I made the right decision to sack it at AVDP as indeed there's no way I'd've fitted in today's back to back.

Did Angels and Hunted this morning and my knees are throbbing like a hammer-hit thumb! The last two stages are going to be a challenge, and I suspect if I manage to do them then I'll be struggling to walk by Monday.
I had to go to the canteen as soon as I got to work his morning and fuel up, as I was starting to wobble a bit.
    This has been tough.
Boardman Road Comp - OK, I went to Halfords
Tibia plateau fracture - the rehab continues!

Sorry to hear that, esp as it's time constraints from work etc that's fixed you to call it a day.

I'm about to do Angels and Hunted. I've cleaned the house to try and avoid it for a bit. It's gona be horrible isn't it?

Does anyone want the numbers for energy produced and energy produced per kilo?

Similar to Nap I simply couldn't do stage 7 today so am now committed to doing the remaining stages tomorrow, Sunday and Monday mornings. Just as well the forecast is bad! I do feel better for a rest day today though so Angels and The Hunted don't seem quite as daunting as they did yesterday!

  • Looking at the 'ride feed' looks like loads are turning the intensity down. Tis the only way
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
  • Wow. That was insane. Angels was just about ok, but never done hunted before and had an absolute breakdown in the middle interval. Couldn't get close to the power required at all. Hobbled through and picked up at the end.

That was really, really, really tough. Anyone finishing that deserves a medal of some sort.

Couldn't be assed calculating average power and W/kg as I'd need to gather lots more data and it involves a lot of clicking between windows. I can get power produced in kj (or energy burned) off your career screens and then divide total energy produced by weight to level out the size factor.

  • Interesting chart dw300 and that is a lot of kj/kg you are putting out!

Stage 7 was definitely hardest for me so far. Felt good on Angels and did it at 100%.....then came the Hunted and I wound it down to 90% about 15 minutes in tried to hang on.

Feels like the finish line is closer now with 2 stages left.

Finished Stage 8 earlier. I have to say it felt easy after Stage 7. I'm tempted to try and do stage 9 at 110%. Or would that just be stupid?
  • Looks like I have plenty of room for improvement :)

Today was probably the most unpleasant day of the tour so far for me.

Not long after finishing A very dark place I watched my father in law pass away after losing his battle with cancer. Today we started with Angels. Couldn't have been more fitting really. Thankfully the Mrs. wanted me to carry on but I am really starting to feel quite broken, physically and mentally. No idea if I can finish the other two, tried blender before the tour and thought it was fairly insane on its own, as the penultimate stage it is nuts. Violator looks like it will suit me but I suspect I'll have nothing left by then.

Really impressed with what some of you guys are kicking out, hopefully in a few years I can get in the ball park.

I'd take any of the power outputs (and consequent Kjoules) that are using virtual power with a large pinch of salt. Although very consistent mine was very very high. My 'Virtual Power FTP' was 301. Doing my retest with the powertap it was 232. Which is REALLY bad for me as it used to be 300 with the PT before my accident.

Balls. Just about to do Stage 7 and realise the window is not just for start times, but for start and end times. :(

I've f*cked it up. Won't be able to finish The Hunted in time if I start Angels now.

  • Arhg, unlucky dw300.

Just finished stage 8. Don't own the vid so played the lions '3rd test DVD which turns out to be EXACTLY the same length and an awesome way to start 6 nations day.

Off to buy some beer. Doing violator at 1 and them I'm DONE.

Finished Angels/The Hunted about half an hour ago, only an hour or so before the deadline! Really tough and glad I had a rest day yesterday even if it has put me under pressure with deadlines.

I'd like to get finished over the weekend if possible but suspect I will be doing Violator on Monday morning.

I too am off the back :(

Cant even really blame it on being dis-organised, was out at a work do last night and managed to be fairly sensible but not sensible enough. Woke up this morning feeling pretty ropey, started putting on my bike stuff and just thought 'why am I doing this' and went back to bed
  • Just finished Blender - I ve lived on a diet of fish chicken pasta and beet juice and no vinocollapso, really looking fwd to Violator and return to pizza and chips :)
  • Michaelede - my condolences: puts the TdS in perspective.

Cumulative tiredness made Blender less than fun today.

Feb 1st so back on the red meat and wine to recover.

Will raise a glass to fellow Sufferlandrians as I prepare to be Violated ...

Cool stats DW - bugger about not being able to finish in the timetable.

I'm all done. Amazingly I didn't break and felt stronger towards the end.

Hoping to actually ride a bike outside tomorrow. Nobody fire a gun or ring a bell near me please.

Just been blended, it was pretty tough going near the end but hung on, Violator tomorrow then i may have a pizza to celebrate….
  • http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/ride ... st-Blender

Quite enjoyed Blender, spent most of the road race looking forward to the sprints but legs just didn't have much left. Time trial was horrid but my 4 yo son came out and watched for the last 20 minutes or so which was nice, usually he is in bed when I am doing this.

Strangely looking forwards to Violator, think it will suit me although don't think I will be setting any records (legs are starting to feel proper tired now) very pleased that my knees and lower back seem to have held up, think it pretty much shows the bike fit at "Ride" in Plymouth got it spot on in June.

So what are other people going to do post tour? Looking at Strava Premium my fitness and fatigue should cancel each other out by next Sunday so I was thinking of doing nothing for a week (or maybe Obelisk mid week) Rubber glove or the trainer road 8 minute test and see if my virtual FTP is higher than my pre trainer breakage test. Been really pleased to have something positive to focus on this last 8 days.

No sign of the replacement KK yet.
  • Did Blender earlier - it's been the only stage without the video - it's amazing how much slower it goes without it! Just purchased Violator for tomorrow!
I have no words to describe how tough stages 7 & 8 were - was utterly cracking by the end of them, but have managed to stay at 100%.
Got a foam roller after DW's recommendation - really impressed at how much difference it made - far more than I was expecting! Just need to get into the habit of using after every session.

Sorry to see DW & Nap have dropped out - great posts from you guys.

After ToS, going for several days rest and then Rubber Glove for a fresh FTP test - must be able to up my FTP given I'm still at 100% and I've broken 32 personal records!
