Thought Revolver today would be easier being less than an hour, but I'm sure it was even worse! Just had nothing in my legs today... http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/ride ... -Aug-2012-

dw300: Do you feel much benefit from the foam rollering? My legs are suffering tonight, so I'll consider anything (except an ice bath)!

Yes the foam rollering is great, it takes the tired feeling away a little bit. I always stretch a bit after the workout too. Foam roller, after workout, before bed and before workout. My legs feel great during the rides, it's my heart and breathing that are having a hard time keeping up.

They should definitely have a W/kg figure for what you have ridden for the Tour so far.

If your FTP went up after Rubber Glove you're scoring lower TSS since the workouts are almost beyond your limits, while people who's FTP went down can regain their form and cycle over target more easily.

Turns out I wasn't as pathetically crap as I thought. 45 minutes in the room filled with the stench of burning rubber. I struggled to the end practically destroying my tyre in the process. By the end I was having to stand the whole time with my weight over the handle bars. Turns out the Kurt Kinetic Rock and Roll isn't as bulletproof as they would like you to think. I "only" weigh 90-94kg and the RnR has only lasted 20 hours. Not impressed, warranty claim submitted to KK but I think that is the tour done for me, unless anyone has a bright idea how I can continue? Happy to bodge it to get to the end but a little worried about it snapping clean off.

Where did you buy from? Same thing happened to me last year. Returned mine to Cycle Surgery and got a full refund on the spot. Put the money towards a KKRM. IMO it's better.

    Stage 3 done: pre work revolver - http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/ride ... t-Revolver

Did at 95%, legs were not happy but nailed it.
  • so bloody scared of Friday and then 1h44 of Blender on Saturday to follow it up. Not particularly concerned about this week's stages which is probably a fatal mistake.

Erm I just saw a post on FB saying they got emails after completing each session ? I've had none - have I missed out on something here ?

Do you have the trophies on here http://www.trainerroad.com/tour-of-sufferlandria? Mine have been appearing instantly, as have the emails.

Phew ! Thanks chaps - I must have forgotten to do that part ! I donated as soon as I heard about it - so maybe I forgot to actually do the registering part. All good now anyway - three stages down and showing on the board.

Stage 2 completed yesterday morning.....decided to watch the cricket whilst doing it so increased the pain even further. I did the first hour at 100% but was never going to keep that up so dropped to 95% for the second half. Even that was tough and it's the longest session I've done on the turbo ever.

I managed Revolver at 100% this morning, this is my favorite SF workout, I seem to be able to take the pain in 1 minute chunks for some reason! I'm now contemplating trying to get ahead of the curve by doing stage 4 tonight followed by Extra Shot on Wednesday morning. The legs are feeling tired though, I regret not starting on Friday night now to get a rest day in.

...just in time for the next stage!
  • What’s the official line about the back-to-back stages on Weds + Fri?

It’d be massively useful to be able to split Wednesday in half, and do one in the morning and one in the evening, purely for practical reasons.

Theres word that this won’t count, surely as long as you do both in the 52hr window they will count?

I bet the minions will know. The times are on the stages anyway - so if they did look at them - they know exactly when each was done. You'll have Gunter Von Agony coming for you. He scares me more than the stages.

I did this last year, did half one night and the other half next morning and it was fine - still registered ok. As long as they are both in the window I dont think it matters.
  • On the FB thread they are to be done back to back, I think I posted to that effect earlier in this thread.

Yeah feeling it today though. Not looking toward to tonight's stage, it's usually one of my favorites but I've got a feeling it's gonna hurts later.

My sprint training is definitely more suited to Revolver...

Found it OK, hit target for each interval but went Beast Mode on the last one.

If using virtual power each of those intervals shows as about 420w, the last one 550...

    Virtual pro!

I wont go back to virtual power, for me it is way out in all sorts of ways compared to powertap (for me, on my turbo, YMMV). Just renting it at the mo but will bite the bullet and by a powertap or power2max this year.

Of course there are some vector pedals in the TOS prize pool which would be nice (assuming I survive until the end).

    This says different http://www.thesufferfest.com/about-sufferfest/tour-of-sufferlandria-2014/

It's quite clear that they have to be done in the right order and back to back

I think that'll be me out, finding 2 hours on a Sunday is one thing but on a Friday on top of a 12 hour day at work....I don't think I can be arsed with that. I wish I'd known that before I started! I have to get up at 5.30 to do an hour before work!!

St 1 and 2 were a bit strange for me as I had to do them on a different turbo and a different bike. The calibration was miles different and Rubber Glove offered me a much lower FTP. I didnt update as I knew I'd be back to my normal setup for stage 3, but it meant I had to run stage 2 at 80% to be at 100% of my normal FTP, if you see what I mean.
So, stage 2 was effectively at 100% for me and I found it hard work! Having said that, I did stage 3 this evening and found it really hard, my legs just felt dead. This is going to be a long week....

  • Just had my first wobble of the tour. Absolutely died halfway through the second twenty min interval in HHNF. Struggled through at about 180w and perked up a bit towards the end.

This is not going to be easy to finish.

  • I was putting it off all afternoon, but eventually stage 4 done (still at 100%), and another 7 records! Beasted the sprints for the last 2 intervals, but actual power figures are pretty pathetic compared to you guys. http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/ride ... June-2013-

Legs seriously hurting now! Tomorrow is going to be very tough, but going to try to stick at 100% - may need to take my rest day after that...

    Stage 4 done, decided to drop my ftp to 320 so still slightly higher than before but seems much more of a realistic prospect to complete the tour at 100% now then work back up to the new ftp once i can take proper rest days;
