@dw300 - we had almost minute for minute start times on stage 5.

Blew up on the last two sprints, just about hit the required power on the last one.

Ok I admit it .. my legs aren't great and I thought if I start just behind you I could suck your wheel the entire way. I thought I'd gotten away with it without you knowing!

Did Extra Shot at 95%, ans Wretched at 100% until the just past half way then 95% for that too. That was plenty for me.

Im starting to get a niggle in my lower right hammy tendon and also in my inside calf muscle on the same leg, might take my day off now. Friday looks a nightmare!

That's 5,212kj for the first 5 days so far!
All the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

Good plan. Maybe for stage 7 you can return the favour.

Yeah not looking forward to Friday either. That's gonna hurt.

Just added up my kj's currently at 6169!
  • Got to say I really enjoyed HHNF, 3 new PB's 20 second, 2 minute and 60 minute so pushing myself. Warmed up with the LSCT warmup before cracking on, niggle in my knee didn't reappear tonight. Almost fell off the trainer after standing up (about 10 minutes from end of second 20 minute section) Think I am getting the nutrition about right as well, the Optimum Nutrition Recovery 2.1.1 seems to be doing its job (legs feel okay in the mornings) plenty of ice on achey bits straight after and compression socks and shorts seems to be helping (super cheap in Christmas sales) No doubt misplaced confidence will bite me in the ass tomorrow!

I must be ill. Really enjoyed extra shot and the wretched. Both at 100%. And yet I struggled with HHNF at 95%.

A fairly easy day tomorrow and then the Queen stage the day after.

For the Glory of Sufferlandria !!!

Looking at my non tour activities coming up it is looking very likely that I am going to have to get up at 7am on Saturday and crank out the Angels/Hunted double stage in time to make the 10am cutoff. That is going to be harrowing.

Not got Strava Premium - what doe the lines mean ?

And on Sufferlandria some interesting stats.

    2428 lined up.
    1824 finished Rubber Glove
    1705 finished ISLAGIATT
    1713 finished Revolver
    1611 currently finished HHNF

So how many are left in ? 1705 ? Can you miss a stage but still complete another ? If so - we cant say that all of the ISLAGIATT have done RG or Revolver ?

It's how many left in the peloton that counts -

    Overall Progress

    Current Stage - Stage 6
    Registered Riders - 2,428
    Peloton Riders - 1,646
    Dropped Riders - 782

So 1646 people still in, that will go down after HHNF I am sure....

The dark line is Fitness - the higher the better. The lighter line is fatigue - the lower the better. Fitness - Fatigue = Form - how fresh you are on a given day.

The graph only takes into account my turbo sessions, not my road work, so it means nothing really aside from if im training harder than I was before. However the graph is 6 months, so the steepness of the lines in the last week kinda shows some epic training is happening!

And also that freshness is a long way off.

    Stage 5 done:

    http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/ride ... June-2013-
    http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/ride ... e-wretched

Started at 95%, extra shot was ok but popped 35 min into the Wretched and had to go down to 90% (for shame). Ground it out, it wasnt pretty but I am still in the mix. Did them back to back, my heart zones on the Wretched are hardcore 53% threshold, 13.5% VO2 max, urrgggh. Might have a day off tomorrow, feeling the burn!

  • Great job everyone! There are some strong riders in this group putting out high Watt/kg.

I just finished stage 6 and am off for a short business trip so will make tomorrow rest day. I am not looking forward to stage 7 though. Definitely some fatigue setting into the legs:
  • Stage 5, and more Cancellara inspiration towards the end of The Wretched, as he murdered Sagan on the Paterberg in the TdF 2013

Just 5 hours to go - I've not done Angels or the Hunted - almost makes me look forward to them.

The last interval of Angels is brutal, 8 minutes of pure suffering.

Emotional wreck tonight, wasn't going to bother but the Mrs. pushed me to. Some times real life sucks :(

Over half way now so let's see what tomorrow brings.

No sign of the new KK though...

Lol - I think it's up Alpe d’Huez with a beefed up Contador, but I was sweating blood into my eyes so wasn't paying much attention

I assume that must be people who had technical problems submitting in time who’ve been added in later on. Now down to a paltry 1532.

Getting seriously close to sacking it off. The quality has gone from my efforts and I'm knackered. 3x12hr nights coming up and I don't want to get ill. I really don't know how I'll fit angels and the hunted in tomorrow.

just finished VDP totally brutal but everything is still on target, dreading tomorrows back to back "rides"

I have wondered if this is just a bit of fun or whether I ll gain any fitness or just get fatigued, any one done it before? and what happened?

I am out on Friday evening, it will involve booze, and likely quite a bit of it.

I need to to Angels + Hunted before midday on Saturday.

I am gonna need a bigger bucket.....
