Mr Dyson upset the locals by bringing in herds of immigrants to fill the jobs for his factory expansion a few years back without even advertising to give uk workers a chance.
British business supporting British people.
Go ride your bike, or have a rub, or both.
Might get in trouble if he does them both at the same time...0 -

Dyson doesn't sound Anglo Saxon to me. Probably a foreigner come to steal our fluff bunnies.I don't do smileys.

Do you think the Chinese will be coming to a small island off the coast of Europe to beg that we bail out their infrastructure any time soon?
What on earth are you talking about ? You clearly know little about the UK economy ! It's a highly diversified one which is a major player in many sectors including things like University research. The Chinese Shanghai World university rankings have Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial Collage London in the top 10. Europe and china have none.
In comparison to other large EU countries Britain has the second highest GDP per capita at purchasing power parity
Germany $39028
UK $36941
France $35548
Spain $30557
Italy $30136
Japan $35800
China $9050

British based component makers do supply parts to Germany.
To add to your list: the Ford EU C/D front crossmember is supplied globally by Gestamp Tallent in Newton Aycliffe (1.1 million units per annum). They also supply the Porsche Panamera rear cross-member and steering arms for GM, (along side crossmembers for Honda Jazz (front) and CRV (front and rear), Freelander and axles to Land Rover etc). 65,000 tons of steel processed a year, most for export - I can't recall their aluminium figures. Stadco (based in Shrewsbury) make 35% of the Focus body, in a factory ajoining the Ford Saarlouis plant, as well as their UK operations making service parts for many companies and most of the aluminium pressings for JLR.
Have we talked about Rolls Royce aero yet?
Exactly. Someone living in Derby would point out that half the Worlds wide bodied jets are powered by Rolls Royce engines. Somebody living in Broughton that it's the place Airbus make their wings.

The UK Aerospace sector is the third biggest in the World but I'm afraid far to many people seem totally unaware of UK PLC.0 -

It's a very English surname. Someone originally involved in wool dying. Seems to be clustered in Yorkshire

The graphics are the best thing on it, lol. I suppose they could use '80s styles, to match the technology...0 -
I like those graphics! The ones on the new Five are awful though (and for some reason they've chosen grey bikes for all their promo shots too, it's like they've determined their new target market is John Major)
The Gyro was certainly a succesful model, inasmuch as it let them figure out how not to make a 29er, so they could get it right for the Five.Uncompromising extremist0 -

The graphics look typical of what small companies end up with when they decide they can do it themselves instead of paying for a designer. They don't understand that "Hey, how hard can it be?" is not a design philosophy. All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

Purchasing power parity was devised to smooth out anomalies including exhange rates. Better to compare a basket of goods in India vs UK rather than to use the straight nominal figure.
Luckily there are only 16 million Dutchman....0 -

True. Things have improved in recent times, but I remember the disastrous results when some companies used to do their own catalogue photography. Seemingly unaware that Joe Bloggs in accounts was actually damaging the company with cheapo visually illiterate images.
I wonder if Orange even have the ability to design on CAD ?0 -

This looks much better. Although it may not be lighter, the bulk of the swing arm is broken up. The top tube bracing also takes away the rather ugly top tube kink.

Agreed (shame about the brown shock though, lol), but the graphics look crap. The "Alpine 160" logo looks really naff, and the duplication of it on frame and swingarm just looks cluttered. When it comes to graphics, less is usually more.0 -
That's not brown, that's gold. Or Kashima colour anyway.

Surprisingly I believe they even have 3d CAD.
I can't remember if it was on SolidEdge or SolidWorks but I did see a 224 evo frame in a demonstration of what the sheet metal modelling module was capable of.
We bought Autodesk Inventor instead.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
