Well this year is a bit tricky as there haven't been many breaks, so it might also be in Froome's wardrobe, but I'm open to suggestions. In years gone by it would have been won by Dekker, Voigt etc
You're right. That's why there should be a jersey, so I don't need to rely on my memory!0 -

So during a day like this the riders drink between 35-40 litres all together.
So a rider has close on 80 bottles. Multiply that by the number of riders in the race. I`m guessing the real number of bottles is somewhat below that. But still - an incredible amount of bottles that litter the route.
The other day on ES they stated approx 60,000 bidons are used per tour.0 -
Look at that towering mountain!
Sorry I live in a very flat place.Correlation is not causation.0 -
Ok all this Mavic talk has got me going... Got my first pair of Mavic GP4 wheels with Clementi tubs when I was 10 years old :-) ... Still have them!!**************************************************

I want to see the drawbridge stage.
Me to - Sagan would jump an opening drawbridge Dukes of Hazard style, probably one handed. I loved his Wheelie whe being reeled in by the pack yesterday. Love him or hate him he's pure entertainment.Bianchi Infinito CV

2 x hour (say 5) x 9 riders = 90 bottles = roughly your 40 ltrs.
I think when he says 'the riders drink between 35-40 litres all together' he means the whole team.
If a rider drunk 40 litres he'd spend the whole stage p1ssing.0 -
Illuminated overhead road sign saying "Tour de Frunce"
DOH0 -
Random things you like about watching the tour:
1. The jingling sound as they go along
2. They look like a stream of ants on overhead roundabout shots0 -

No, he'd be dead. Too much water = dead.0 -

Oh that gave me a good laugh, cheers FF0 -
Isn't it more like 40 litres per team?
If nothing else how the hell would you fit 700 plus bidons in the team cars?
EDIT - Yes it's per team, the relevant quote being "So during a day like this the riders drink between 35-40 litres all together." All together the riders i.e. the whole team drink 35-40 litres not 35-40 litres per individual.Correlation is not causation.0 -
Another TT tomorrow. Why?
The course looks horrible too.0 -

Fast work people. Saved me from posting my insightful comments on the carbon footprint implications of hauling 40Kg x 200 riders around the Alps ...a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

3. Feed zone. They never show us enough of Feed Zones.
4. Riders sitting up at top of climb, zipping up jersey before descent, all superfast.0 -

I did think that was probably the case also. There is a medical term for it - hyponatremia (from google)
Didn't Marco Pinotti (maybe in a 2R interview?) suggest that Landis took on something like 60 bottles during his famous breakaway in '06 - was pouring most of them over his head. Pinotti speculated that a 3 second 'sticky hand' on each bottle could have gained Landis 3 minutes lead.0 -

That was an Allan Lim inspired effort to regulate core temperature, in the least comfortable way imaginable."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

5. When two breakaway riders get caught right at the end and they shake hands before they sit up - or preferably one sits up and the other goes all kamikaze.0 -

Jeez what a boring stage, why don't they just hire a mini-bus and get it over and done with?'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0 -

Not once the French tax system has had it's wicked way with it"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"
