    Bottles...

Have you read about the rider in the olden days who used to transfer the bottles from the cages into his pockets to lighten the bike before he started a climb?

Yes! And it makes no sense. That weight still has to be carried up by the rider no matter where it is.

Wouldnt it be more of a hindrance on his body than on the bike?

presumably by heightening his - or her, might be a lady - centre of gravity

That's in The Rider isn't it? It's noted as a psychological trick Anquetil used to play on himself.

"If they banned him from putting his bottle in his pocket, Anquetil would never have won the Tour"

Correct... my current bedtime reading for about the fifth time.

D'you want to know who won?

Geez how wrong does Hansen look climbing this col. He's a big big boy.

This is his 7th GT on the bounce, is it not ? (or maybe 6 - I'm sure someone can confirm)

Anyone know the most consecutive completions ?
O'grady is equalling Hincapies record of 17th straight TDF this year. Not sure what the consecutive completion record is.

Loads of idiots taking photos with their Ipads this year
I saw all sorts of huge devices being used to take pictures and video. People behind them couldn't see a thing. Numpties.

I used my iPad to video the finish of a road race I was judging, was fantastic to show clear video of riders numbers frame by frame to get the finishing positions quickly. Really good quality video too.

I agree, camera and video quality is exceptional.

Bit different to having your face shoved in an Ipad as the TdF goes past.

The first chase group is: Kloden (RTL), Jeannesson (FDJ), Riblon (ALM) and Coppel (COF). They are 30" behind Costa who is showing now sign of slowing down.

Sorry, bit late here, but yes comments about bidons makes sense. Probably the whole team and yes, didnt think, but likely a lot are taken by people on the roads.

    Valverde out the back.

Liking the action at the front end. Very strong by Costa.

Amazing that we have action every day really. Katusha lighting it up. Select group only.

They are going to have to work hard to get Costa back. Proper little strong rider. No idea why they let him go. Think they need to watch more racing.
