and after all that still no FDJ in the break.

    Edit:
Sorry, yes Jeannesson soloed over. One of them had to, they'd be on gruel for dinner tonight if none of them made it.

Fifth place on stage 2 is the best finish by a French rider so far. Surely they have to win this one, national honour and all that?

Sky could let this go out until the Top 10 is under threat then.

If this does go all the way there are a few in this group who can sprint a bit. Gallopin, Pocket Sammy, Albasini, Navardauskas, Hansen, Quinziato.

I would have thought it'll break up on the final climb

Does anyone think it was ridiculous to have some many KOM points at the top of the Ventoux yesterday? 50 points is pretty ridiculous IMO. Makes all previous efforts more or less redundant.

I would too, but you never know..... Tommy V won't hang about to find out that's for sure.

10.5 Frenchmen in a break of 23, they have a numerical advantage for a win today.

They keep trying to find a balance. The idea that the King of the Moutains was a guy who lost 20 mins on the final HC wasn't great either.

haven't they changed the points so that non-climbing opportunists can't win it with a couple of well timed break aways to hoover up points early in the stages, the Polka-dots have been devalued for a few years now.

We'll see if the new system is better in Paris i guess...

They changed it around a few years ago, offering double points at the top of summit finishes, to take the jersey away from teh likes of Virenque who would lead over any number of 2s and 3s and then be nowhere when the race got serious.

Yes I agree. Apart from Rolland no one has even tried really racing for the polka dot jersey. How many points for mid stage HC mountain tops?

Completely agree. Way too many points. Think it seems to have gone too far the other way from previous years. It used to seem KOM was done and dusted earlier in the race with loads of little climbs

Look at that escarpment. Did we see that escarpment last year going the other way on the stage that Millar won?
