    Send him home.

Or let Phinney back in to TA.
And the 23 county riders back into the RAS.

Have to agree, it's harsh but fair.

There's a reason the cut off exists. If you start making exceptions then you have to have a really good reason to, otherwise it ends up looking like favouritism.

That really good reason being the officials f-ck up that caused the crash that injured him.

Ok I'm going to say it - first road race stage of the tour and we re blaming a crash in the last 10km on the race organisers?

Come on! Have you never watched the tour before?

Normally I have no problem with the cut off, just find it harsh on a TTT stage, and don't feel it would cost the organisers much to reinstate him for tomorrow. If he then couldn't hack tomorrow then fine. But yeh, would earn ASO some points if they let him in, but if they don't, rules are rules I guess

Has anyone asked Ted King if he wants to be put back in? He might fancy retiring honourably.

Mainly greipel moving through a tiny gap I thought. Part of racing, likely to happen without the change in finish especially with that choke point at 3 km to go.

Yeh, maybe Ted King doesn't want to stay in, but then why start? He was off the back from the first corner

As he's showing his SRM disagrees with their timing, I guess he's keen to stay in.

    Geologist too

I actually have very little knowledge of this part of the business - seriously do rigs race each other in Texas?!?!? :P

I'm normally trying to get rigs to tram quicker so racing is beyond most drillers I guess. If its your own company it might be different though. Most invoices from drilling companies seem like a licence to print money anyway

I know a Norwegian that does Red Adair type stuff with rigs. He could probably tell you. Fecked if I know though.

If Contador was still on the good stuff, Nico Roche would be in Yellow tonight.

    Just sayin'

The organisers clearly screwed up big time and introduced such massive uncertainty to the first stage, which contributed to the danger - but +1, this was a crash, in a place crashes were likely to happen, on a stage crashes were likely to happen. If we're going to start making exceptions then Thomas could have pootled in nice and easy and saved some energy, instead of doing turns on the front.

Seemed more like they burnt their matches too early from the split times.

Well why would an oil company get 3 different companies to drill 3 different wells to see which one got there fastest? They re just drilling 3 wells near each other, ok so maybe there's a bit of personal pride involved but how much money they get won't have any bearing on how much money they get from it (as opposed to how quick they can get to the next well maybe...)

By my count, I'm at 32:24. I'm honestly not sure where 32:32 is from

What would be incredible is if someone could get a picture of me crossing the line with my time on the finish line. Thanks.

So glad Sky did not pip that with their domestiques...they should be well down if normality was there. No idea who they are placing where they are.

Saxo showing everyone they have a strong squad and I hope they pound Sky inside out in the mountains also. Much talk about Contador being whacked due to that last TT performance and much talk about Saxo hiring bad guys.

Happy they didnt pip the Quick Step boys though.

You mean Sky with their 2 team pursuit Olympic gold medallists, Froome and Porte who have both won or finished high up in TTs in the past? Not a surprise is it?

So the Saxo rider who fell was hit / hit a camera. It would have been interesting to see what happened if he missed the cut.

Just won £70 courtesy of an £6ew bet on OGE. Thought 19-1 was suspiciously good odds for that

You gonna go round to Cav's house and take his green jersey and PdlC trophy back?

I quite liked it, bit like Ice Road Truckers for oily people. Must be an American thing to have to introduce a competition and concentrate on the danger to what could otherwise be a really interesting documentary.

Probably gave it all he could, knowing he has little chance of making it through the mountains at the weekend.

OGE are riding like a team that needs a GC contender. Anyone know a rider with Aussie roots who may be looking for a new team next season and could compete in a GT?
I think they're scouring Pakistan to see if there is one.

    Great two days for GE.
