Not done yet - like I say, it's not urgent and I have the C2C and NSPCC Tour of Yorkshire plus the Tour itself on my mind in the immediate term! Main blocker on this one is that I haven't got the collinite yet!

I actually treated mine with Collinite. It just gives the frame a very gentle sheen (I was worried that it will be too shiny). The greatest benefit is that it just shrugs off water and makes the bike super easy to clean. To be honest I doubt you will notice it in a photo.

    Steady now what's the rush

Anyone had to replace the hanger?

Managed to stack it and bend the hanger. Ordered a Scott replacement from Westbrook, but now the rear wheel will not sit straight and rubs the chain stay.

I can clamp the wheel in straight and tight but it will always slowly move over the course of a couple of rides so that the tyre is rubbing the stay.

Anyone recommend a non original replacement, as seems I can't trust the tolerances on the Scott one?

Has anyone replaced their headset? I'm wondering how easy it would be to drift out the cups with this:

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-headset-cup-remover/

I'm thinking of replacing my headset with a Hope integral headset http://www.wiggle.co.uk/hope-integral-headset/

Looks too small, the OD of the CR1SL is 46mm

The Ritchey is lighter and cheaper, what's not to like?

Do you know if this headset works for the CR1 Comp ?

That's the wrong headset - you're looking at the integrated headset (ie no cups necessary)

Ritchey's semi integrated headsets appear to be 44mm:

    Upper Fit (S.H.I.S.): ZS44/28.6
    Lower Fit (S.H.I.S.): ZS44/30

This is the one that came with the frame http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ritchey-wcs-pre ... h-headset/

And we're now comparing 110g to 80g - not that I'm fussed about the weight.

What's not to like? The crown race cracking after less than 1000 miles. I'm not sure if being able (when there's stock) to buy replacement Ritchey races is because they're great at supporting their products or if they know the races are crap?

If the CR1 Comp uses a zero stack headset like the SL then no. The drop in headset is an integrated headset.

what replacement headset should I get then ? mine is getting a little worn I reckon. Also, I was thinking of getting an inch off the top of the steerer (not doing it myself I hasten to add). Any thoughts on that ?

Let's start off with the headset you have now. Know the model? Got a picture?

If there's nothing wrong with the headset itself then replacement bearings will be the easiest solution.

According to the nice people at Scoot my bike came with a ritchey 1" 1/8 semi integrated with 44 mm cups.

OK, from what I can work out, your bike possibly has a Ritchey Pro headset:

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobi ... -prod39381

If everything is in good condition and it's just the bearings that are rough, then replace just the bearings - this is really easy to do. The press fit version of these should fit:

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ritchey-pro-headset-bearing/

Otherwise, the headset I'm fitting should fit - I'll find out later if it works.

Just for reference, the Hope Integral headset fits without a problem. I've not used the Hed Doctor though instead keeping the bung and top cap from the original.

I have replaced mine with the proper one from Westbrook as my gears weren't running quite right.

I doubt this is your problem here, but both hangers have needed bending straight.

My CR1-SL fell over in the garage after I brushed past it with the wheelie-bin. I could see straight away the rear mech was no longer vertical; went online and ordered a replacement from Westbrooks. Good as new with the replacement hanger.

Thanks for the reply, so looks like I had a dodgy one from Scott. Replaced with 'D272 CNC gear mech hanger / derailleur hanger / SCOTT' from 'gearmechhanger.com' if any one else needs.

Is labelled a drop-in headset? What parts came with it?

If it is then yes, it's the wrong thing :)

And no, the bearings aren't interchangeable as far as I'm aware.

no - it is labelled press fit 41.0 and 15 mm... at least these boxes are checked...

Well press fit is correct - that'll be the semi integrated (or zero stack) version. 41mm is the bearing size, which also appears to be correct.

i was under the impression from the number of post about how to fit my headset that they basically just bagged up whatever was laying around, there are plenty of people on here that had to request replacement parts

If it's the same as the one you have already then keep the cups that are already in there. Not only do you need to press in the new cups but you also need to knock out the old ones. I also don't think normal headset remover springs work here, so you'll have to tap them out with a screwdriver or similar.
