Carrying on with the bottom bracket theme, I've decided to go with SRAM Red on my SL... Still trying to work out definitively which SRAM BB would work on this frame. Anyone know?

Also, would it be better to go for some other brand of BB like Chris King or whatever? Does anyone have a specific recommendation?

Yes the SRAM version BB86 will fit.

Chris King of course would be better but twice the price.

But would it, though? Although I'm sure Chris King gear is awesome, as far as I can see, there's very little to bottom bracket cups. I can't imagine there's much in it from one decent brand to the next.

I've ordered the SRAM version... I looked at the ceramic bearing version - seems to be at least £130 if you're lucky, vs £25 for the standard version... At that price difference I think I'll skip the ceramic option...

As I mentioned earlier, I'm going to be transfering my 105 bits and pieces to a new Pro frame. I'll also be replacing all the cables.
Am I right in assuming that all shimano fit cables have the same ends? If so i was going to order a set of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-road-ge ... nner-wire/ and the brake equivalents.
I don't mind spending a bit more if there's improvements to be had, if so, does anyone have any recommendations!

As an aside, would this headset kit be compatible with ye olde CR1 SL, or my Felt even?

Not sure what the crack is with headsets yet.

Thanks for that. The Shimano ones did look a bit, you know, boring.
    I'll have a look. :D

My bike came cabled with the OEM Shimano stuff. Had to replace the rear shifter inner cable after 3 years cos it was fraying inside the shifter; bought a Shimano one so I could be sure the nipple would fit properly. Another 3 years on and it's still fine, as is the rest of the 6 year old stuff. Just transferred them over to a new frame and still working flawlessly.

Not sure how you could improve on that even by spending a bit more. Cables are pretty simple things after all.

Well from averaging about 11-12mph on my old Trek 2.1, I'm now doing 14-15mph. About 1.5mph from the better frame, about 1mph from better pedals! I'm sure some of that's from better fitness and better weather too mind.

OK, so much for all these build pics. Who's gonna be the first to break theirs?

Am I the first to crash theirs? I was at the bottom of a big pile-up at the CDNW crit race at Preston last Thursday - reminded me why I needed a cheaper bike for circuits!!

Some idiot wiped out the lad whose wheel I was following, nowhere to go so I did a lovely somersault over the top and landed on my head. Then the peleton landed on top of me!

Frame looks fine but rear wheel is taco'd... :(

This is why I don't race... Too dangerous for body and bike!

Get my frame (CR1 SL) tomorrow from a work colleague, decided on Dura Ace 9000 groupset (already have the C24's on my Boardman Team Carbon), just trying to weigh up what finishing kit to go for that will compliment the matte finish of the frame.

Anyone got any pics of Deda Zero 100 on their frame as their stuff seems pretty matte finish?
    Cheers, Stu

3T do a Stealth range. I have the stem on my matte Dogma.

3T-Vorbau-arx-team-stealth_b2.jpg Available in Alu, not sure re carbon.

Actually, IMHO a gloss stem looks better on the frame. The FSA SL-K on mine matches the carbon spacers and my glossy SL-K seatpost a treat.

Aye budget wont stretch to the 3T stealth stuff! Nice though for sure.

Any pics of the FSA setup?

I'm going down the 3t stealth look. Picked up the Arx team stem and have just ordered the Doric stealth post. Just the Team ergonova bars to save for next. Then the 50mm clinchers I'm getting built then wait on the new Ultegra 6800 group set to start to appear. Slow build this one it's going to be my winter project for next springs bike so in no great rush. Btw tried that muck off silicone spray on it and not worth the money IMHO, tried various ways of application and made little or no difference to the look of the frame !

Pedros bike lust is a good silicon spray. I'm not a fan of muc off stuff at all.

Hopefully not too OT for this thread!

Recently found a small crack in the head tube of my Scott S30 - good excuse for a new carbon frame methinks!
so which of these would you folk say would be best?

    http://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/frames ... 12-p194664
    at £499
    http://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/frames ... 12-p225556 at £449

Seems to be the same frame but with a different BB - which is better? I was hoping to transfer all the necessary bits from my S30 to the new frame. My S30 is the 2009 model with the Ultegra groupset.

    cheers for any advice!

Simple question - is the "Scott" writing on the frame in white or silver?
    Cant tell from photos!

Silver, but matt, so almost grey. You do mean on the SL, right?

I am 6'2''. What recommendations on size?

Also, I as looking at the Chinese carbon frame.

Would I be an idiot to pay US$ 500 for one when I could get an SL for US$ 750.

I'm 6 ft 3 and I got a 58 cm frame although I still haven't fully assembled and ridden it yet... I was also thinking about Chinese frames but I didn't know where to start in getting one so when this offer came along I took it...

Finally took a picture of mine, I've been riding it for weeks. Now with a Brooks Swift installed it's even more comfortable.
    picture.php?albumid=2735&pictureid=15882

    Build details:
Ritchey WCS Headset, Stem, Handlebar and Seatpost

    Campagnolo Centaur group except:
    Record 11-23 cassette
    Ultegra compact chainset
    KMC X10 Chain

    Campagnolo Zonda Wheels
    Brooks Swift Ti saddle
    Shimano M540 SPD pedals

Obviously need to chop the steerer a bit more at some point as it looks ugly sticking up.
