OK, so much for all these build pics. Who's gonna be the first to break theirs?
I had a speed wobble at nearly 40 mph in the Peaks on Saturday and was close to trashing the frame on its first proper outing...

Holey moley! Is it fitted with a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Winters???
No Conti GP4000S. Either I've got the heaviest wheels known to man or something else is going on here.
What are the wheels?
"Aluminium hubs w/Bontrager Approved aluminium rims". So in other words I have no idea!
From what I read, "Bontrager Approved", in this case means Alex R450 rims. Same that came on my BeOne, the wheels alone weighed 2.3 Kg. Did I notice a difference when I moved to the 1.5Kg Braccianos? Oh hell yes!0 -

Thanks I didn't know that and I've been searching for that information for a good while. I've been looking at wheelsets around the 1.5kg mark e.g. RS80/RS81, which should make a considerable difference .0 -

I am waiting for a decent discount code (Come on Wiggle!) to nab some Zonda's for around £250 I hope - I plan to desticker them. They seem the best value wheel in the 1500g range to me.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

I was also considering Fulcrum Racing 3's for the same reasons. (Stickers and weight). Let's just say it's important to me that my new wheels appear identical to my old wheels0 -

Well from what I gather from another thread I started, Campagnolo own Fulcrum, and although the spoke patterns are different, it would seem that the Campag branded wheels are identical in weight to the equivalent Fulcrum wheels, or at least incredibly similar, ie Zonda/Racing 3, and I have to say I rather like the rear spoke pattern on them, but similarly like yourself would prefer black wheels, so am hoping the hairdryer technique will also work on these.
Could have bagged a pair from Halfords for £230, but they have just put their prices back upFelt F70 05 (Turbo)

Just finished my CR1 build, after various delays in component selection and holiday
The cabling took me all day and two goes to get right Have gone for gearcables crossed under downtube and front brake continental to get a really clean run with minimum cable length and no cable rub. At least I can use the other cableset on my CAAD so not the end of the world.
Weight not too bad

That, is a really really nice build.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

I won't embed the pic as it will be resized by the forum software but here's a link

There's room to get it closer to 6Kg if not below, bars would be an easy saving but after that it would get pricey. Maybe next year0 -

Poshest build so far! Possibly the smallest build so far too. Nice one Itsnot!0 -

XS? I was just comparing it with the S that I built for Charlie - the given frame weight is certainly lighter (though I didn't pay attention as to whether that included BB). The deeper rims also make it look smaller but I think it is smaller.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
Thanks, yes it's an XS 49cm with 120mm stem. I'm 172cm with 76cm inseam. Centre of BB to top of saddle is 687mm measured along the seat tube0
-
Very nice job.
Wishing I'd gone XS versus Small now but I did buy the small for the longer headtube and specifically for a 12hour ride in the Alps. Maybe when I've done the Radmarathon I'll see if I can find an XS somewhere or a swap even.25th August 2013 12hrs 37mins 52.3 seconds 238km 5500mtrs FYRM Never again.0 -
Looking to fit a Campag triple gearset to my frame. (unsure about Veloce, Centaur, Centaur Red, Athena)
Can anyone tell me what bottom bracket I need to replace the one that is fitted?
Cheers0 -

Always late to the party.
I've had a medium CR1 Comp since 2011 and always felt it to be a bit small for me, so I think i'm about to order a large Pro frameset and transfer all my 105 stuff over.0 -
Chaps potentially stupid question time as i have no idea on bottom brackets!
I'm mabye buying someones CR1 SL frame which has the BB91 fitted (he is using Ultegra 6700 but will be removing it).
If i was to go Chorus for the groupset (should it come with a BB?) do i just need to unscrew the existing cups and fit these so will be using the supplied BB:-

Or am i talking twaddle?
Also is it easy for me to do at home or is it more a specialist job. eg do i need a particular tool?Cheers, Stu0 -

Wow! Super nice - Pro owner myself.
How much does it weigh with that setup? Every time I get my bike out I think, wow, this thing is heavy!
(Heavy being 9.2kg btw)0 -
7.24kg in that set up
A lot lighter than my old Cube Peloton!0 -

Thanks....looks like its going to be cheaper/easier to go the LBS to swap it over then! (if i go the Campag route).Cheers, Stu0 -
Carrying on with the bottom bracket theme, I've decided to go with SRAM Red on my SL... Still trying to work out definitively which SRAM BB would work on this frame. Anyone know?
Also, would it be better to go for some other brand of BB like Chris King or whatever? Does anyone have a specific recommendation?Do not write below this line. Office use only.0 -

Excellent, thanks. I've been wondering what I can get my bike down to. Although it would be Ultegra at most, can't afford Dura Ace!0
