    Very nice.

Are those V-brakes!? I'm new to road bikes and I've never seen V's on one before, thought they all just used canti's... or discs.
    Nicked from another source!
"Integrated brakes that blend in to the fork and seatstays, in pursuit of minimum drag. Essentially mini V-brakes redesigned with aerodynamics in mind, the TRP-built SpeedControl SLR brakes are optimized for the leverage ratio of both Shimano Dura Ace 9000 and SRAM Red levers, adjustable for both wide and narrow rims with shapes optimized for the trailing edges of the fork and seatstays. When asked why they chose to forgo the under-chainstay mount location, Swanson explained, “it was driven by the need of the pro team (Blanco, formerly Rabobank). It was important to them that the brakes be in an accessible location for quick wheel changes. Our testing didn’t show any benefit aerodynamically to the under-chainstay location.”

    Loving this bike!

Despite what you have just said the bike remains a thing of beauty!

Single spesh bottle cage now replaced by two Giant cages to increase sartorial smartness. Plus personalised name sticker and headcap added. I believe it to be the finished article!!
Never happened until we see more pics!

    So am I.

I was somewhat cynical of my own choice (kept calling myself a bike-tart, but it is incredibly smooth.
  • Fix the fence or get a new bike?

    Yep you guessed....

2014 TCR Advanced 1, only changes are some campag zonda wheels.

So much smoother and lighter than my 2011 Advanced 2

Hmm whatever 52/36 cranks falls into :P
  • Very nice bike! Interested in an TCR Advanced 1 myself. Has it been out on the road yet? If so how does it ride. Also what size is that one?

Isn't that classed as a 'pro compact'?

    Road - Dolan Preffisio
    MTB - On-One Inbred

I have no idea what's going on here.

Only had 1 proper ride so far but it felt very nice, i think its mainly down to the wheels though, i only had the stock wheels on my old advanced 2 but put new ones straight on this, felt so much more responsive and smoother than the others.

Looking forward to a longer ride in the hills tomorrow :)

Oh and thats a large, most places are out of stock untill april but theres a few left if you look hard enough
  • Hi

Here's my 2010 Giant TCR Alliance, size medium. Just changed the groupset over to 5700 and it's a big improvement. Other changes are a Pro Vibe 7 44cm bar, Elite bottle cages and Vittoria Rubino Pro tyres. Will be upgrading the wheels next - nothing really wrong with the RS10's and they've stayed true for the last two years (and are easy to service) but I think a lighter wheel set will transform the bike.

This is the second TCR I've had. I bought a TCR Once in 2001 and loved it (Campagnola Daytona, Mike Burrows aero forks and seat post, Once team colours).

    efa27aa8f1

If anyone is interested I've got a Shimano 105 5600 group set that I'll be sticking on ebay on the weekend.

    Cheers

Unless you are looking at mountains it has to be the Propel every time.

There's only a couple of hundred grams difference between them but the Defy is very comfy for a long ride.
Propel cheats the wind better, as you'd expect, and is so much fun to ride being that bit more responsive.
The Defy is going to Flanders this year.

Ah i'd love a propel as well, need to ask santa for one :P

Well 3 proper rides in now and im absolutely loving mine, so glad i upgraded.

Ive been experimenting with different length stems, im used to 100 but thought i'd try 120 and 110, feel a bit too stretched out so ive managed to get hold of a ritchey 100 8)

Sold my defy 4 and now on a defy 1. For a bike that basically has the same frame, it has made a difference. Feels much more sprightly, more responsive to me turning the pedals. Weird. Probably 99% psychological!

Already levelled a bit - I'd lined the seat post up with the zero mark. It's now on 5 degrees or so :)

Gone from my old TCR to this new TCR Advanced 1 8)
    B60DFFF2-B3B0-4921-880A-27BFD9BE52BE_zpsp2itxu4k.jpg

Difference is unbelievable to be honest. Just a quick 20 mile shakedown ride tonight but the speed, acceleration and not to mention how stiff it was.

Just need to slightly alter the bars, wack a 130mm stem on, and put my old saddle on then it will be sorted!
