Great thread so I'm going to have to add mine :D . It's a 2015 Defy Advanced 2 with full 22 speed 105. I've since replaced the saddle with a tan Scoop and I hav a set of Hunt disc wheels on order for some added lightness!

Hi! I have the same bike, what are the Hunt wheels like?

A brace of Giant Contend SLs. Mines the black/orange/disc brake one. Brilliant bikes for the money. Very impressed.

  • Oxoman, I've just popped down to the garage to check the gravel tyres. They are Schwalbe CX PRO 30-622 28x1.20 700x30C Ref HS269. I bought them cheap from Planet X in UK as an experiment. They are fine when it is dry but if it is wet and muddy there isn't enough frame clearance and you will get a build up of mud on back wheel at bottom bracket. They are tough to get on and off, so that is a compatibility issue with PR2 wheels. Generally they give me a nice option to ride gravel trails - it's amazing how much cushioning these bigger tyres give over bumps, however they are heavy. What I'm looking to do is upgrade the wheels so that I can leave my PR2's with gravel tyres on and get some better road wheels. Do you have any advice? I tried to get some Mavics but axle was too wide.

Anyone got aero handlebars on their Giant?

I really fancy a set but not the full integrated cockpit as I can't really push the boat out that far so with a standard stem.

The Prime set from Wiggle seem to get good reviews on here but anyone got any others? Giant themselves do a set but never really seen any reviews apart from someone on Weight Weenies a while back who said that they were mega stiff.

I swapped the standard bar on my 2019 TCR Advanced SL 0 for the Contact SLR aero bar when I bought the bike. Really pleased with the performance of the bar, soaks up bumps, and there are plenty of those on the roads in Scotland, whilst being plenty stiff enough for me, don’t notice any flex. I’m 6’1” and about 76kg with an average power output. Only thing to bear in mind with the Giant bar is that they do not do an out front mount for fitting via the stem bolts. Found this surprising given bike is race/performance orientated. Spoke with Giant and they provided details of a company manufacturing a suitable mount, so they obviously get queries regularly. Have to say I think the bars look great on the bike, although I’m biased. Would recommend as a purchase. That said the Prime ones do review well.

They were the ones I were looking at actually as they seem to be pretty much the only option from Giant but as with everything else at the minute seem quite hard to come by. I'll keep an eye out.

    Thanks for the recommendation though.
