It's looking good Vandiesel, these composites look so much better with Ultegra.

I would love to change over to Ultegra shifters and deraileurs, but my Tiagra are still working really well so can't justify the upgrade yet.

Have you tried weighing it recently?

    Wotcha mate,
I'm really pleased with the Ultegra set up and will most likely finish off the set with a pair of STIs soon!
In addition a nice bar and stem set up for the Spring.
I've got no idea what it weighs at the moment.

One of the nicest Giants I have seen. Personally not a fan of white saddles/bar tape but they do complement the frame I guess.

I'm the same to be honest, I would have preferred a black saddle which is what Giant and the dealer I bought it from show it as having on their website but it came with a white one which I can live with, although I will probably switch the bar tape to black or dark grey at some point in the future.

Lovely bike, did you get a decent deal on it? Giant styling can be a bit hit & miss, this one is a hit for me. Their 0 paint schemes are definitely the best of the range. Had a Defy 0 until recently but sold it. Should have got a comp 0 in the right size. Black saddle and bar tape would look the nuts on that frame.
  • I got a really good deal, I paid £1850 for it whereas it's rrp is £2750. I hadn't seen any bike with that kind of spec for that price and I really liked the look of it so I couldn't resist. I saw it on Rutland cycles initially but ended up getting a price match from Pedalon and ordering it from them. They still had some left when I ordered mine so if anyone wanted to nip in and get one then you might still be able to.

Very nice bike. I am always jealous when I see someone has got a bargain like this.

I wish I would have spent a bit more when i got my TCR Comp 3. It's just that I think Ultegra looks so good on these bikes.
But I suppose we all wish for that bit more no matter how much we spend.

  • Wow nice bikes you all. Makes me want to show off my own. I like changing a lot off stuff on my bike, so it is already an old pic. But here goes:
    8881427556_6f48d1a1fa_c.jpg
    It's a TCR Composite 1 2011.
    Upgraded:
    Brakes to Ultegra
    Cassete to Ultegra
    Chain to Ultegra
    Pro-Lite Bracciano wheels
    Easton ea90 stem
    Easton ea70 bars
    Giant slr bar tape
    Giant bottle cages
    Look Keo Blade pedals
Selle Italia slr flow xc saddle
    Conti gp4000s tires
    Titanium quick release (no brand)

Now I had problems with the slr saddle (pain) and the Look keo blades (one pedal broke)

So now I have a fizik arione and look keo classic pedals and red hoods. Will make a pic of the current setup soon.

Did do the Ventoux this year:

Great looking Giant. It seems Giant styling gets worse as the years go on, these older models are much nicer. Looks like it fits you well, got to have helped getting up Ventoux. A glorious day you had for it.

Giant are a simply brilliant manufacturer. They are a huge concern but still produce quality bikes across the spectrum

  • Thanks guys! It's a great bike! And indeed I like the looks of this one better than the new ones. Will post more pics soon.
Nice propel indeed, but was wondering about the seat too.

    +1

Lose the red hoods please and it might just come back 'on trend'.
  • Yeah I know, I know.. :)

But I don't have the money at this point to change parts. But in the future I will try and get everything black again. Until I get black pedals and a black seat the hoods will remain red. It took some getting used to but I like it, although I also like the 'less colour look' better.
