Some varied handlebar set ups in this thread.
I found lowering them helped with spreading the weight around and limited the pain that the bum was going through on longer rides and looked better so win-win for me.0 -
About time I posted mine:
Giant 2009 Defy 3. Bought a month ago, in near-immaculate condition actually.
- Mavic rims / 105 hubs / Michelin tyres
- Selle Italia saddle
- Look Keo pedals
I can't get the handlebar angle right though. Since the photo I tilted them slightly forward, making the drops more comfortable but the hoods a little less.
Future plans:
- Retape the bars. Stock job is sub-par. While I'm at it I can switch the brakes so the left lever controls the front brake.
- Ditch the triple and get a double + shifter etc.
- Replace the Mich's with Vredesteins.
Sorry for the diffuse lightening by the way. Also, I find my handlebar stem awkwardly angled. O well.0 -
Has anyone bought the Propel yet?0

My LBS has a Propel in my size and will do me a deal on it. Very, very tempting....FCN 3 / 40

I very nearly went for one, but after looking around at some honest reviews, I opted for a TCR Adv SL. What an amazing bike although there wasnt much in it and the propel looks and feel amazing too. The routes around my way are Very hilly so that affected my final descision.Cervelo S5 VWD DA Di2

This is my TCR advanced 2, had it since January.
Love it so far!, finally happy with ride position so need to get the steerer cut down. All parts are stock except cages (Tacx tau light) and the tyres (pro4 service course) after I decided the giant ones were didn't grip enough in the corners, or have enough white on them.

Ovi, you are my new hero - you win the official "S.T.S. Drop of the Week" award. Also, that stem/bar combo just killer. I would NOT want to line up beside you for a race. I'd get out a white flag and wave vigorously. I love how you threw caution to the wind and cut that nasty, heavy steerer off.
Tom & Ovi - you guys need to SYV: sort your valves. Are you both pinoeering a valve system that attaches to your hub so you can control air pressure on the fly? Rotational weight, air resistance, eye-strain...The titifers have sung their song.
Now it's time for sleep.0 -
Ovi,
Love that little wooden stand you've made up. I take it by looking at the stains on it that you use for it cleaning and other light duties?
I have a workstand, but would prefer something a little more compact and your design looks ideal... nice job.0 -

Cheers, The stand works great and came from an off cut of ash I had left over from when I fitted the new reception counter at the Morpeth Royal Mail delivery office.
It needed a recent tweek to allow the White Industries hub to fit it.0 -

Bizarre set up you have there. Seat pointing down and bars up with postive stem position. Is it comfortable like that? If my bike looked like that I would question the suitability of the frame and whether the size is correct. The Defy SL Advanced further down the thread is a good example of how good the Defy can look. Ovi's TCR is the other end of the scale with it's massively aggressive set up. Looks cool though!0 -
