Keep that bike and upgrade it. That chainset weighs a ton - get a nice 105 or Ultegra one and 105 shifters. That's after new wheels - you'll notice a huge difference with some nice wheels!

Anyone have any idea how much a TCR advanced 1 weighs? Or just the TCR advanced frame?

Here she is still looking reasonable after 5500 miles

    Things to do:

    -new chain
    -new cassette
-new chainset so I can keep up in crits

Just wrapped the Fizik microtex and it's awful. Really hard to get it lump free.. and it looks worse than Lizard Skin dsp too... but it is £10 cheaper and should last longer.

Its a 2012 Giant Defy 1 - the only upgrades are GP4000s tyres, Thomson elite seatpost, and Specialized Romin Saddle.

Needs a white stem or tape.
And Bontrager shouldn't be on anything other than a Trek - loose the Bontrager decals.
    Nice otherwise !

Giant TCR Alliance Zero - 2009
    null_zpsc6631841.jpg

Bought this SH in Jan 2011 and it had done hardly any work and looked brand new. It's just clicked over 10,000 miles since I bought it, so treated it to some Ksyrium Elites (again SH) as the original Aksiums were finally looking a bit tired.

It's my best/race bike and to be honest it's great. I keep thinking about getting rid and getting something else, but to be honest I just like this too much.

Willy that looks great, love the saddle to bar drop. Are you going to cut the steerer eventually?

Its ugly and heavy but I love it !

Your not wrong there Eddy, that's one ugly beast all right.

But its how it rides that counts.

i have to say it's the best looking bike in the thread. not a fan of new bikes tbh. i hate the fat squarish style bars and swooping arches on them.

    here is mine:

    a09622f6-f7ba-4994-8b49-4dd2ce2d6c99.jpg

i love older bikes and this one rides lovely. it's heavy as hell getting her up hills but the way i see it is that the training is good.

Just upgraded the wheelset and cassette. it was rocking a 12-23t when i first got it. it was hell up hills as i live in the peak district where there are some corking climbs.

Not the best pictures since it was starting to get dark but I've put the fulcrum racing 5s on, hoping for a nice improvement over the standard wheelset.

This could also be in the Cyclocross section. This 2.5 year old TCX is part commuter, part winter trainer, part ex-best CX bike, and part cyclo-tourer. I love it b/c I've asked a lot of it and it's demanded very little in return. The steering is slow but the BB is stiff and when stripped down from extraneous accoutrements it's under 8 kgs.

I like your idea for the 'bars but the execution is a shambles. What *are* those brake cables doing dangling around like that in mid-air.

I think those bars are supposed to be taped all the way up unf to hide the brake cables. For 'bars like the Cinelli Ram that only need to be taped in the drops, they have carbon tubes (like penne pasta) on the underside for you to route the cables through. Do you see these on these 'bars?

Any your rear brake cable housing is a joke, please shorten it by, seriously, about 2 inches. Take a look at some pro bikes for some tips on cable length. You could hang your riding socks on that thing to dry.

You need to chill mate. What an unhelpful assuming reply. The cables were thrown and have been sorted well before your ignorant reply. You could of course stick your 1st build on for us to pick apart ?? Gotta love the haters. Your also off mark with the Vuka Sprints, best you get on google pal.

New saddle, continental gp tyres, full 105 groupset and deda bar tape. Still considering changing the handlebars for a compact set but we'll see. I'll change the wheels soon too! A nice round 10kg all in. Ish :)
