Peloton getting a move on now & all the top GC teams marshalling towards the front in prep for the climb

I am going to give carlton a grudging shout.... he as made an effort and has moved himself from excruciating to almost bearable as a commentator.

seriously.. he has made a big effort to know the riders names even from small teams which is actually informative on occasion.

14 km to go, cant believe Cannondale have a man out from for Basso - I have no expectations in that respect

Down to 12Kms and gap at 1:18 and expect it to drop quickly looking at how the teams are riding

but Sky look short of numbers and organisation by their standards - Lampre mean business today I think

Rider down & possibly taken out by a slow moving moto camera, if not caused by looks like he nearly ran the poor chap over.

Looks like up and back on the bike straight away though so all OK now

Not sure & looked like slow speed wheel to wheel between the moto and the cycle, could an overlap of wheels?

Wiggins is a long way back which traditionally has been a bad sign for him whatever Carlton and the big man are saying.

Astana riders have a little chat in the peloton guess as Sky not at the front and seemingly wanting to leave it to others to chase they are working out if they need to chase or can the go for it further up the hill

astana look strong in the group, and the 3 at the front continue to drift away - still a way to go, but this gap could even see an unexpected Sky rider on the top step by close of play

Agree but he just looks so smooth and steady on the bike think it might be more tactical as opposed to being on the limit

I wonder if Basso is back on the Cola Max as I'm sure he'd whoop any of these boys, in his pre positive dope test days. Maybe if AC and Valv are showing no contrition for Naughties then maybe Basso will be back on his "A" game.
Just looked at him and he's breathing a bit hard, maybe not then. :/

Astana - look so strong now - nibali must fancy this, of feels weak and tries to neutralise the others

Rolland is sitting and sitting - expect him to kick with 2 km to go - or he is suffering

Rolland spat out - anyone who can do that to him on a climb is pushing hard

Nibbles off the front of the peloton now and taking a few riders too, Brad pulling him back easily
