Fixeds with discs

I was getting quotes for work to remove the S3X stuff but then they offered me one of the last Orange frames from 2015 which yes had 2 bottle bosses again. It is also a R+D frame (something unnoticeable about the drop outs) that came discounted and they only wanted £50 for the fork swap, couldn't say no.0 -

That sounds like a deal for sure!
My own Tempo is about to take a step back as I get back into gears for some of the stuff I am doing this year. If I have another big distance season on fixed, I will consider changing the fork for sure.0 -

Totally disagree... on the one hand you have a bike free of gears which is a statement of your power... you don't need gears! On the other hand, you fit a power meter, which is a bit like doubting the size of your penis and having to constantly check that you are doing OK... you shouldn't doubt or attempt to quantify the awesome power
You are sending out a confusing message and as a result you are a smaller man than you could be...left the forum March 20230 -
Don't forget, a disc would indicate I'm not very good at stopping either... Oh.0

That is fine, power and control don't necessarily go hand in hand...left the forum March 20230 -
Hi, Pete, Marcus, can i ask which Condor disk fork you went for and how much it weighs? Looks like Enve forks only come in tapered varieties ( at least 2.0 version ) and would not fit Tempo, Pista or Look AC 364 i have my eye on.0

This, Condor sold me the frame and their Pioggia fork together.0 -
Was picking up derailleur hangers at Evans and checked out Fuji Feather - seems quite a lot of bike for 350, if heavy. What does Condor have over it with just the cheaper frames costing 700?0

In an attempt to answer mamils question I tried to learn about triple-butted steel, Dedacciai SAT and 4130 Cromoly (the Feather is made from this apparently) but starting falling asleep.
dhope nailed it.0 -
It nearly resembles a bike, no?

Except for that godawful tumour of a contraption on the fork.0

Short of a wheelbuilder?
In summary, yes.
But I've finally gone with a LBS who'll have the front back at the weekend.0 -
Why a SS frame has braze ons for gear cables?
Chain tugs?left the forum March 20230 -

Chain tugs?
Run it with a hub gear?0 -
Yup, for a hub gear and the rear brake. Irritating but going custom would have added £200.
Somewhat related, what are the screws/springs on the dropouts?!0 -

At least that's what I've always assumed.0 -
IT'S ALIVE
Things of note;
The pull on the brake lever is REALLY long and when you do get there, there is no bite but I assume this comes with bedding in(?!?).
It's so stable and I've never ridden anything like it. Lovely.
It's way early in the year for 44x16. Why have I built the winter bike now?0 -
Coming back to cycling after surgery, so commuter is needeed
Does this bike or frame exist yet?
Order of priority
1) Fixed
2) Hydraulic Disc Brakes
3) Mudguard holes
4) Clearance for 28mm
5) Under 8 kg0 -
Yeah, mine and Pete's
Kind of hydraulic anyway. Normal lever, hydraulic disc (Juin Tech R1)

Did I build those wheels?
If the previous poster wants full hydro, then TRP Hylex is the answer. Under 8kg is difficult as most of these framesets are steel
PS: that looks like a BB7 to meleft the forum March 20230 -

You built the deep section carbon ones on my Canyon. You'd moved when I needed these ones so Arup Sen did these. Stans Grail on Goltec hubs. MTB front, Track rear
Ah, you're right, that pic is a BB7. Since changed to the Juin Tech.
If you could live with the brakes being the wrong way around (/European) then you could always go SRAM

Weight in the setup above (inc saddle bag + lights for commuting), according to my bathroom scales just now.
9kg on the dot0 -
Won't beat your 8kg on weight I don't think, I've an original Drop Bar Roadrat running fixed disc.
Deore Front hub
Surly fixed free rear hub
TRP Spyre discs
Aerotrack rims
SKS full mudguardsIf I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.0
