The BR censorbot altering a URL (and breaking it) because it contained the word ässhole, then not making the substitute shorturl a hyperlink. Grrr.

Makes me want to link an article about Scunthorpe.

I'm intrigued as to what sort of website you were looking at that has that word in the URL.

The Graun, the link quoting the word used in a contentious quote in the article.

Not much point in buying any in that case. 🤣

Sky Sports using logos instead of names for the scores. Imagine ot won't last long.

Oh man, that is really annoying. Brentford against Bournemouth for example - at a glance how am I supposed to know who's playing? It assumes everyone is absolutely consumed with interest in the minutiae of the sport.
I'm intrigued who thought it could possibly be a good idea. A few years ago they gave every league team a two letter abbreviation. That didn't last long.
A good innovation is the little bit of colour on the scores that tells you which team is which. Is that just bbc?
They all have some form of colour to show that.
It is annoying if you flick onto a Man Utd game as you can not instatntly tell if Casemiro has been sent off yet

I have never found a pair of winter tights with a pad as good as the one's on shorts and I much prefer being in shorts.
I bought some fleece lined Sportful bib shorts last year. They are really wonderful, have a great pad and keep the chill out on those in-between days.
If its 50/50, I use Tiger balm as well.
Castelli made this 'Foul weather cream' but seemed to have either stopped doing it or stopped exporting to the UK. It was ace.

Just for fun. My personal tried and tested temperature envelopes.
    0-15C - Fleecy shorts & bibs.
8-15C - Fleecy shorts & knee warmers. Knee warmers removed when appropriate.
    11-15C - Fleecy shorts.
8-Max - Bib shorts & knee warmers. Knee warmers removed when appropriate.
    15C-Max - Bib shorts.

You meant 0 to 8 I presume for your first category.

0 to 8 is indoors for me unless it is very dry, not very windy and the sun is out. That happened last Friday.
Went 9/10ths round a local loop to discover snow and ice under tree cover as I hit the woods. Ended up cycling all the way back the way I came. But it was fun.

    Vest
Long sleeve HH freeze base layer
    Castelli perfetto short sleeve
    Alpha jacket
    Merino snood
    Wiggle's best own winter beanie
    Merino socks
    Overshoes
    Gloves and glove liners.

A correction, Should have been 5C-15C. There are days it starts off too cold just for knee warmers but it warms up. Whacha gonna do? 😉. Below 5C is indoors these days.

Unpadded tights over your normal shorts? That's all I've ever done, I've never owned padded tights.

All of mine. Castelli, Rapha, Altura and Craft.
Common denominator is a Roubaix/fleece lining.

I bought some when I started to cycle again after a 12 year gap. Wore them once and badly overheated, I may have used them again on a day I went out when I shouldn’t have and there was black ice everywhere. Can’t recall what make they are but also have some Enduras that I’ve used on sun zero morning commutes.

I had a pair of Enduras but I find other brands far more comfortable.
I have a Le Col pair without pad but they are really only for cool weather, not cold.

Having to switch off lane assist every time I start the car.

Less trivial is that it should just be renamed “cyclist near miss assist.”
How on earth did someone at VW pass off a system that automatically steers a car towards a cyclist if the driver doesn’t indicate to overtake ?

Lane assist is only useful in dual carriageways and motorways, and even then…meh.

    In Paris for work.

Bin collectors are on their 9th day of striking.

It’s rank out there. Just rubbish overflowing everywhere.

(Goes without saying I left an extra hour to get to St Pancreas because I don’t trust my train to London and indeed, it was a good job as when I got to Finsbury Park the entire line shut down, so I managed to get the tube for the final stretch. What a shambles. That was fun with my shoulder)

The first time i drove my current car was my first experience of lane assist.
I was driving back from the dealer on the M25, went to change back to the slow lane after overtaking (without indicating left, naughty me) and the car steered me back into the original lane - i thought the steering was knackered and had a minor panic attack that i was going into the barrier.
Good point about overtaking cyclists, that is more than a bit dangerous. Luckily mine stays switched off when you restart the car.

very lucky with the tube as the stations I have gone past are shuttered

A lot of driver assistance is more dangerous than not having it at all, because people drive presuming that something that works okay a lot of the time does so all of the time, and is only there to paper over
    carp driving.

Lane assist is covering up for people who are so bad at driving they can't stay in a lane. Blind spot assist is for people who have blind spots because they don't look around and eliminate them. Dynamic cruise control helps people pay less attention. Etc.

That st Pancras eurostar terminal was designed for a very different time.
