Shameful that he will be recorded as 2004 gold medallist. What were the IOC thinking in awarding it to him.

Maybe Bruyneel will have EKI at USADA arbitration???

Maybe indeed...I think Bruyneel's got a right little cast lined up...

Thing is someone standing up and saying 'I didn't dope and I never saw anyone else dope' doesn't mean much other than they didn't see anything. However, if someone else stands there and says they did dope and saw another person dope and then give details it is more meaningful.

On a far more important note. South Park are taking the p1ss out of Livestrong and Lance :)

In his intro to The Secret Race, Dan Coyle says something like he was allowed access to Armstrong and Postal to write his earlier book Tour de Force (Lance Armstrong's War for those on wrong side of the Pond) so long as he didn't ask about doping.
He says that whilst he saw nothing and had no evidence either way, he definitely felt it was going on.

I thought I'd re-read it and see if there's any new insights with what we know now (well, we suspected it then, but...)
"David Walsh is convinced Ferrari has some magic mystery potion," Bill Stapleton said, "He tries to connect those dots and prove something, he thinks we're ahead of the curve"

"But think about it for a sec", Stapleton continued, "We're building long-lasting, trusting relationships with people who are spending a lot of money - Coke, Nike, Subaru. If we're fukcing lying, we can kiss it all goodbye. And if we're lying we'd do some stupid stuff to cover it up, wouldn't we ? Does anybody think for a second that a secret that big wouldn't come out ?"

    Hmm, yeah

Good to see Rominger possibly in the sh1t from the fallout as well:

    http://velonews.competitor.com/2012/10/news/tony-rominger-denies-money-laundering-other-claims_263005

but this has to make you laugh, from Jack Rogge:
Sadly, the sport of cycling has often been involved in high profile doping cases and necessarily the UCI has always been at the forefront of the fight against doping, being one of the first sports to introduce biological passports and also conducting a record number of tests on cyclists all year round.

To be fair, Rogge is correct in that part of the paragraph.

True and you can't expect him to publicly criticise UCI, but it still makes me laugh considering how hard they tried to stop LA being brought down.

Also the first part is correct if the context is 'compared to other sports, the UCi....'

Banning Lance? I guess it does need to be considered.

CORRECTION THERE ARE STARS AGAINST HIS NAME AND A FOOTNOTE EXPLAINING. ITS GOOD THAT BRIATTANICA
  • Lance really is the gift that never stops giving

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/armstro ... o-adelaide

'The website reports that rather footing the expense of travelling to the US to retrieve the key, Armstrong's name would be removed from the honour board where the recipients are listed. Others to have received the honour include Cher, who sold her key on eBay for close to $93,000 earlier this year, the Dalai Lama and comedian Barry Humpries who is perhaps best known as Dame Edna Everage.

In 2011, Yarwood travelled to the US to hand-deliver the key to Armstrong, with Adelaide rate-payers covering the partial cost of the trip however, the American was not in residence in Texas. The key was later posted to him'

You sound somewhat disappointed that he didn't say what you wanted him to and therein lies a problem. Most people on this forum want it dirtier and dirtier and here's a guy who's not going to stoop to your level.

Contador is dirty Dennis, that's what people find funny... plus he's one minute defended Armstrong and the next minute he's accepting Armstrong should be stripped. The guy is funny, and he's a tool, and a dimwit.

Anyone else see Bradley Wiggins on the Pride of Britain Awards?? ...he said 'our sport's taken a bit of a hit the last couple of weeks with Lance Armstrong and stuff but ummm.... my one isn't built on sand and um... I've won more tours than Lance Armstrong now, which is brilliant!'.

...perhaps he was the one who voted 'No, Ive won at least 1 TDF' on the 'Who's won as many TDFs as LA' thread ?? :)

(Can't find a video link to him on the Awards show.)

So who's in charge of this "tool"? Seriously???

[Contador] continues to insist too, that he has won seven Grand Tours, not five - CAS stripped him of two titles, the Giro 2011 and Tour 2010 because of his two year suspension - because he “won them clean” without any kind of “help...only through self-sacrifice and hard work. I will always consider them mine.”

I think Contador is the best most exciting thing to happen to Pro cycling in years. Great attacking attitude, not invincible, never says die and prepared to risk everything to win and its not a foregone conclusion either.

    Marvellous to watch.

And there was me thinking that we were against dopers!

No no only British and US dopers. Spanish Ones we just chuckle, ruffle their hair and send them back out on the road the little scamps!
