Can't we get Porter somehow implicated in all this? He must have known something he didn't tell the authorities surely??0 -

Having been outed as in the pay of Armstrong, I'm amazed that Papp has the cheek to show his face. But then he's never had any shame0

No comments yet from Wiggins or Cavendish ??? I see that their twitter pages have hardly been used. Maybe brailsford got wind of what was coming and told them to "Keep of the Grass" for now if you pardon the pun.. 8)0

99% of the pro-peloton are saying nothing. As for the rest, they're getting shot down unless they say that LA is the anti-Christ0 -
Don't know if this one's been on here yet but....from the NY Times via the BBC.
"Top Finishers of the Tour de France Tainted by Doping
Since 1998, more than a third of the top finishers of the Tour de France have admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs in their careers or have been officially linked to doping. The grid shows the original top-10 placements in each of the past 15 years. Riders pictured have either tested positive, admitted to doping or been sanctioned by an official cycling or antidoping agency. Cyclists whose sanctions were later overturned are not included."

A while ago I said that I would be devastated if LA had doped. Well I guess that day has come and then some. I pretty much feel like I did 30 odd year's ago when Scotland got hammered 5-1 by England and me old dad had to put his arm around me to ease the pain. Sadly me old dad is no longer with us as cancer took him. I am of course a bit older and wiser although not so wise that I am typing this knowing there will be a response.
As a small aside, In David Millar's book just after he got pinged David Brailsford stood by him, paying for a head doctor out of his own pocket to talk to David. That act alone says that DB cares about people and cycling.
Anyway I'm off waiting to see what other bile can be produced by those on here that are all seeing and all knowing about all things.0 -

As Wiggins is the current Tour Champion he has, in my opinion, a duty to speak out against Armstrong and all the others named as cheats in the USDA report. His silence is damning, is he keeping shtum because he knows something we don't?0 -

This was all fairly obvious though.
I can understand people believing up to around '02 or '03, but you'd need to be hiding from information to not have an idea what was going on.
Maybe this is the first time an official body has done something, but nearly all this has been out there for years. How anyone (and I'll include Brailsford and Yates) can be 'surprised' is beyond me.
It's like believing in fairies or religion or something.0 -

Well you know were to go if you dont like seeing things on here you dont agree with, It's called a democracy free speech and all that. there you got your response go and put the kettle on and sit down and relax... and judging by your first couple of lines, seems to me that you havent followed pro bike racing for that long and you were gullible like a few other's on here that what you were watching was a fairytale.0 -
LIke most I'm dissapointed by the lack of comments from those pro-cyclists who really should be making a stand, a comment - confirming their desire to operate in a clean sport, condeming LA, etc etc. I'm also amazed by some of the drivel by he likes of Dowsett and Yates.
Hypothetically speaking, lets for one second assume that a not insignificant number of well known pro-cyclists are still 'on it' - in some way or another, do they speak out and condem LA, do they say he's still their hero and did a lot of gread work for charidy mate, or simply say nothing. I'm interested to look at it from the perspective of a current juiced up pro. What would run best for his career, his paymasters, his doctor etc??0 -

For over 30 years I have dedicated my life to cycling. I have always been determined to compete at the highest level, in one of the most physically demanding sports. With hard work and success have come great blessings from the sport I love.
Teammates have become dear friends and I have worked hard to earn the respect of my competitors. I have been associated with managers and team officials whose professionalism is unparalleled. Wonderful fans have supported my family and me since I began this great journey. For all of this and more, I am truly grateful and proud.
Because of my love for the sport, the contributions I feel I have made to it, and the amount the sport of cycling has given to me over the years, it is extremely difficult today to acknowledge that during a part of my career I used banned substances. Early in my professional career, it became clear to me that, given the widespread use of performance enhancing drugs by cyclists at the top of the profession, it was not possible to compete at the highest level without them. I deeply regret that choice and sincerely apologize to my family, teammates and fans.
Quietly, and in the way I know best, I have been trying to rectify that decision. I have competed clean and have not used any performance enhancing drugs or processes for the past six years. Since 2006, I have been working hard within the sport of cycling to rid it of banned substances. During this time, I continued to successfully compete at the highest level of cycling while mentoring young professional riders on the right choices to make to ensure that the culture of cycling had changed.
About two years ago, I was approached by US Federal investigators, and more recently by USADA, and asked to tell of my personal experience in these matters. I would have been much more comfortable talking only about myself, but understood that I was obligated to tell the truth about everything I knew. So that is what I did.
Cycling has made remarkable gains over the past several years and can serve as a good example for other sports. Thankfully, the use of performance enhancing drugs is no longer embedded in the culture of our sport, and younger riders are not faced with the same choice we had.
I am proud to be part of the cycling community, and believe we continue to make positive changes to our sport. I applaud the extraordinary achievements of my fellow riders on and off the bike. Cycling is an incredible sport that not only requires unbelievable physical ability to ride hundreds of miles a day for many days on end; it also requires a certain type of dedication, ambition and character. I have been fortunate to compete with teammates whose commitment and talent will be hard to match. As a rider I have dedicated a large part of my career to helping those teammates succeed. As I begin the next chapter in my cycling life, I look forward to playing a significant part in developing, encouraging and helping young riders to compete and win with the best in the world.
Not really anything we haven't discussed before - but nice to see him state on the record. A fan to the end - much love for Big George.0 -
To me back then, it was blatantly obvious LA was a doper. Today, though there are not so many rides I see and think 'dodgy'
So what of the Tour then? As Armstrong will be stripped, arguably if others 'come clean', they should be stripped of there 2nd, 3rd, 4th spots shouldn't they? It will make the race look even more ridiculous. Where should all this be stopped? I struggle to think of a significant winner of most of the, sorry, ALL of the majors that hand on heart isn't looking dodgy.
As the TdF is THE grand tour, I think how the ASO reacts will have tyhe biggest impact on cycling. I think the ASO is far more capable of bringing this craziness to order than the media USADA or the UCI.0 -
Yeah makes me want to go and ride the 'Farewell to George ' sportive in Carolina...........well ish0

Or sit like a big dummy next to pharmstrong & Leipheimer at the TOC and say sweet f**k all as Kimmage asked the awkward questions. Another cheat who made millions off the back of this rat. Do you think he will give anything back ? nah didnt think so.0 -

I'll accept gullible but you have absolutely no idea how long I have been following pro bike racing. This is a forum didn't think it required a full background check. Nothing wrong with free speech but it seems to me that there have been a lot of folks too ready to hang em high too early. The affidavits by the whole team proving the whole thing has been rotten for so long. The most telling/damning evidence for me is the testimony from Gh, CVV, MB, JV and DZ. some of the other testimony has been proven, in court, not to be reliable.0
