I'm sitting at work open-mouthed at how this is unravelling. My faith in the current peloton is dwindling fast.
I cannot believe that we haven't heard the big names of the current peloton come out and chastise what has been so clearly proved, and to urge the authorities and teams to continue to push the doping culture completely out of modern cycling.
What we've got is people like Sanchez still clinging on to the "innocent until proven guilt" line and young riders like Dowsett still hailing LA as a legend. Unbelievable. Sky has come out of all this so badly. It's starting to look like all of their rigorous anti-doping measures were just throw away PR lines.
Have we made any progress at all?0 -

Do you really think J-Rod is going to say a thing? Or anything actually sensible?
You think he is a dummy?
Don't know if he will or wont but doubt it will be stupid. Most of his comments about the races are very very good and he comes off a great guy.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Maybe the peleton are still scared of the UCI. However if the likes of Brailsford came out very clearly condemning the culture, and stating that the UCI hasn't done enough in the past, then the riders might be prepared to stick their heads above the parapet more.
Brailsford should also be hauling in Dowsett and telling him he is a twat and needs to grow up.
Sad to hear riders like Sanchez with their heads still buried - no comment is better than making yourself look ignorant.
As said above, today could have been the day the peleton stood up for themsleves and changed the balance.0 -
All we need now is for Merckx to come out and continue to support his chum : )Contador is the Greatest0

Sanchez is such a plum. Innocent until proven guilty. Its almost laughable. What more does he want!? A pic of Lance in a dentist chair having blood poured into him like Gazza back in the day?
Dowsett's comments are like a lot of people's views though. It was all a while ago, what's the relevance to today. He still raised a lot of money for charity. So dim, and as pointed out. Just like the Saville case, people don't consider the victims at all.0 -

More to the point, will we hear anything from Contador?0 -
The sport neads strong leadership and those leaders need to be speaking now. Today. Without this we are going to get the Dowesett and Sanchez responses repeated again and again.0

People cheat for for the need to win and gain fame or fortune or both and I really doubt that strong leadership will stop any of it. I think you're being naive. After all that's been said and done and after finding out that pretty much everyone is / was doing it you still believe it can, or ever will, be stopped?0 -
I am not surprised by most of it..but the pressuring of riders to dope to get onto the TDF team and specifically pressure put on Christian VDV to dope or miss the TDF is too much. However, Eki and Zanini take up management roles in the sport I see from cyclingnews this week. This sport is full of ex-dopers so losing Lance and Bruyneel is only 2 out of hundreds of ex dopers....but I suppose it will scare the hell out of the current generation...stop them taking their chances given the odds of being caught aren't huge0

I like the one on "next": He's a low life scumbag - 5live listener and cancer survivor Colin on Lance Armstrong.0 -
Dennis, of course I don't believe that! In light of the current information I'd expect people who care about the sport, who are involved in managing teams, riders, governing it; to at least acknowledge that there are skeletons in cupboards (left, right and centre) and then to make the logical next step and to assert that they will at least learn from it and put in place structures to prevent it happening like that again as it was unacceptable. I'm well aware that cheating will not cease. I''m talking about looking at the evidence and responding to it appropriately.0

FF. J-Rod has said bugger all about or against doping to date - as far as I know. Think he's suddenly going to come up with a messianic statement now?
And what about Contador? Think he's going to say anything, even against the old enemy of Armstrong?0 -

For what charity - what does livestrong actually do??? They go round the country making speeches about cancer awareness and flying in private jets... They don't pay anything into cancer research or any of the medical aspects of cancer treatment, they just talk about it, normally to people who've had it, who I'm quite sure are fully aware of cancer...dont knock on death\'s door.....
Ring the bell and leg it...that really pi**es him off....0 -
I should think one or two are hoping that Armstrong doesn't start pushing people under the bus.
He isn't going to. But the idea that he might is going to keep a few quiet.0 -
at last Armstrong gets his cumuppance ! only now can the sport move on and dig itself out of the hole, but the implication is that some of the UCI should step down too, and makes the Lemond judgement and Paul K issues interesting!http://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png
