This week's only ride (as a result of weather and work).. must get out more next week.0 -
A bunch of segments round my local area are held by chaps in spots 1 to 5 who went out together and chainganged in gale force winds... Annoying but next time the wind is blowing east I'm gonna give it a shot.
For the time being, my average speed today was some 14km/h slower than their average.0 -
Holy S***!!

Now that's a hill.
I'm not not worried I've not made it onto page one, I'm just glad I survived :shock:You've no won the Big Cup since 1902!0 -

Wish we had some of them round here!
another good day for me today with a 5th place (featuring a tailwind of course!).. but a PR on Stanton with a headwind!

I have to say Kudos to all that are getting segments in London's city center, cause there is that many and some are on fiddly roads it just seems like a massive chore hunting down segments apart from obvious ones.
Do people choose specific times to do some segments? I'd be tempted to have a go at Cable Street but the traffic lights are in the way, but there is that many in London I'm just like damn I cba takes enough concentration trying not to get killed lol.0 -
stung by the loss of a few KOM Strava segments, I hatched a plan to regain top spot "Garmin, check, clean urine sample, check, clean underpants, check!..... OK beat this suckers!"

Most people do them on the commute - find a commute, ride it a few times, work out where the segments are and then go for it. When you get bored with that route, find another one. Makes the ride into work a bit more fun!0 -
Broke into three top 10s today... Will keep working at it!0

Found this segment, got 7th overall on it today not murdering it but going at a decent pace, it's pissing it down so might be rather dangerous as the roads are a bit rough and Vittoria Rubino Tyres are slippy as hell.
25mph should be pretty easy on this road

I don't know how the speeds are calculated, cause if you go onto the recording of the segment for any given rider, highlight the graph, it shows you the actual average speed, I did 22.7 today and the top guy did 24.5? Yet my actual speed it's showing is 21.9 & 25 for top rider??0 -

I'm just outside the top 10 on a hill
http://app.strava.com/rides/25544288#456746522
quite happy with that!
Does anyone have any strava links to some cat4 races?
edit:
found some: http://app.strava.com/rides/21268887 Pace doesn't look too bad for an hour.. and the sprint doesn't look too fast either?0 -
Gonna hit Richmond Park tomoz, probs between 10 and 12 depends if I get up early, I've put some KOM start/end points in my Garmin, don't think I've got any chance not with my current form or even when I'm on top form but I can give it a go, can use em as intervals, no point trying to batter the whole loop in the aim for a KOM because it's never going to happen if it's busy like i'm expecting. Should be fun tho
Hoping my rims' don't explode / axle snap in rear wheel.0 -

That's not a hill.
And he wouldn't have won with that sprint I doubt!Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0 -

Fair point.. still only Cat4's though.. and I put enough effort into getting my 13th place that it was harder than a cat 40 -

That's pretty much the same route I used to ride when I lived in Oxford. Old Boars Hill is tougher than its strava profile suggests (it should be edited to take off the first 200 yards that are pan flat)0 -
Found this website:
http://veloviewer.com/
You plug in your Strava athlete ID (it explains how to find it), then it fetches your strava data and gives you a few extra graphs, charts, etc. to look at.
My page: http://veloviewer.com/AthleteSummary.php?athleteId=203408
There is also a forum signature feature -> but Bikeradar doesn't let you put images in your signatures0 -
Not very accurate, because some segments are listing as like 0.7 miles with about 300ft climbing when they're in fact 0.7 miles with about 10ft descent0

Created a new segment today to get my first KOM...

Down to 5th now, Strava seems to take more time to add rides from 2011 or earlier.0 -

Yeah the 4th place guy knocked me off yesterday though.. and I'm pretty sure he had a massive tailwind0 -
I've managed to move up from 42nd to 14th on a segment near me today... but still can't see me ever managing the 32mph average on a 5km flat section without a gale force wind behind me, which coincidentally, was the case when the top 10 times were recorded. Booo hisssss...0

KOM?
Looking at some of these rides shouldn't the acronym stand for King of the Manhole Cover?Selling my Legend frame

A good point... We should really use the 'CR' term - course record, despite it being used for runners usually.0

I've always thought it would be good if they added a historic weather applet (?) to the KOM list. It wouldnt be 100% reliable but not much less than anything else on strava0
