Really? I seem to remember not finding anything (that said, we didn't look that far).

Lidl had loads of BBQ's for a £1 or so if I remember rightly. I can bring a few, as there's a Lidl literally 5 min walk from my house.
It's beginning to sink in that this is just over a week away! Frigging. Yes.
It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

    There is a Sainsbury's, Co-op and a Tesco in Peebles I think.

    Yep yep and yep :)

There is also a nice fish and chip shopeee and a nice indian lol.
  • just been reading the posts I've missed.... verry fuuuukin excited

I have 16 burgers in the freezer that I'll bring along.. I think Squarepants has a cool box so they'll be fine for the Saturday, or we can pick stuff up at saino's/tesco if needs be.

Is there anything as a group we need to organise to bring between us? or is it just a case of bring what ya got?

I'll bring all my tools etc and whatever else I can think of spares wise, is anyone short of anything?

Being the FP&A legend I am, my list is saved down on excel, complete with checkable boxes.

My list is quite similar to the above though.

Couple more things on there, but I've got an extra day too.

Oh, my list also includes cakes from my missus and Haribo :)

As for stuff to bring as a group. I think we're good.

The guys staying in the wigwam have a fridge and (I believe) a BBQ, as well as a picnic table outside. If they don't mind, we might be able to use that for some foodstuffs. Coolboxes from those that have them and can bring them would go down well though.

As I understand it, we do have use of a communal kitchen area, dry room and tv room too.

There is some more information available (along with some reviews from people who've stayed recently HERE.

IF I MAY MAKE A SUGGESTION
If most of us can arrange a rough time to meet up on the Friday it would be pretty helpful. Even if you're not planning on joining us up at Gisburn on the way.
That way we can all get sorted together rather than having to drag Ian up and down from the farm for dribs and drabs. I'd suggest late afternoon / early evening and everyone arriving before that can hang about in the GT carpark, do a couple of laps of the freeride etc.
  • Yeah was gonna say.. I doubt we will make it for Gisburn unless we leave late thursday and stay at my parents in Lancs, not sure yet...

Its gonna take us around 8 hours from Cardiff, so an idea of what time people are likely to arrive would be good!

    According to Bing.com I've got 201 miles / 3hrs 38 mins to Glentress :?

I'm "working from home" that afternoon but I'm aiming to leave home at 4pm at the latest (if it's a quiet afternoon I'll try to get away at 3pm), so I should be up there between 6:30 - 7:30pm.

Been on another skills course on the DH tracks at Cannock Chase this weekend - really good, but I'll have to keep reminding myself that I am not a riding god or it could end in tears.....

Can't wait - especially if the good weather that CWNT's promised us actually happens :D

You see, I was going to suggest around 6pm.

Means the Welshies don't need to set off at the crack of dawn, and those of us heading to Gisburn will have time to have a good ride round at a social pace. Also means that anyone not going to gisburn, but living a bit closer, can stop in and get a quick loop in etc before we all arrive.

If most of us are already in and we're just waiting for 1 or 2 more to turn up, I think that should be ok.

As previously mentioned though. I'll fire over my mobile for those of you who don't already have it. So if there are any probs you can let me know.

I should be there about 1300-1400 (depending on how much stuff I need to get Friday morning) so if anyone is planning on getting there earlier I can drop them my mobile number

It'll be about a 3 hour drive to get to Lancashire, and I need to stop off and pick up Lawman too. So what time are the rest of you planning on riding Gisburn?

Cazmotron, why not have a little trip down to Gisburn? I know it involves driving much further out to drive back again, but it should be a laugh.

Bails, I'll converse with my chauffeur and get back to you on that one. Richie, what time are we likely to be arriving?

From Sheffield it should take 2 hours to get to Gisburn? About that I think, anyway. Could get there for 11 or 12 easily enough. That gives us a couple of hours playing there, before a 3 hour trip North, getting to GT around 5/6?

    Richie's the man though :D

I'll be the bloke in the silver Renault trafic, i'll bring my tools & dirtworker, I also have one of those 12v coolboxes, a couple of chairs & a table and a small awning to stash odds and sods out of the weather if needs be....

Beer? any prefs? we've got a micro brewery near us so I could always get a few pints of the good stuff - if anyone is interested....
A berm? were you expecting one?

I don't go south of the border unless it's an emergency/matter of life or death

Was tempted, but due to not being able to leave before 11 or 12 on Friday, I wouldn't get to Gisburn before every one had headed north

Me too, getting run over is not good for knees!

There seems to have been an improvement over the last few days so hoping for a miraculous recovery over the next week or so.

    Neither is mountain biking apparently.

I'm in much better form now than I was 6 months ago though. I'm still not able to run up stairs 2 at a time, jump, or sit on my feet, that kind of stuff. But considering I only started walking again in March, I'm fairly happy with my progress. The main thing limiting my fitness now is more the extra weight I've put on rather than any injuries.

Plus I have some rad and gnarly scars which pretty much makes it all worthwhile. I'm a bit gutted because up until about 6 weeks ago, I'd lost all feeling in my shins, which works well with my flat pedals.

Oops, I'd forgotten about that. I can hardly moan about knee pain in front of the bionic man!

I've not ridden properly for a couple of months either, and haven't ridden at all in the last 2 (or 3!?) weeks! I can assure you, you'll have a partner walking up the hills

Hopefully I'll get out this weekend, but I'm not sure I will. We'll see :D

That genuinely makes me feel a little bit better guys, especially hearing bails has recently been run over

Me and Ben rode CC last week (I think) and it hit home how unfit I am right now, as long as I'm not the only one I'll not feel too sh1te

    Hi All

Should be around 2 hours to Gisburn as long a we miss rush hour in Glossop. So would be easily makeable for noon. I for one don't want to wake up too early after the Peaks ride then curry with beers. But, We can get up earlyish to have breakfast in Hope at the Woodbine cafe - Bacons for those that need such piggy things as it's on the way.

As for the drive up to Glentress I would guess around 2.5 /3 hours from there.

I'll put my number out tonight as well

Just bought one of those GoPro jobbies for filmfantastic crashiness :D:D
