they were great fun but flip me did my tyres dance about on that granite  They are a lot steeper than these pictures make them out to be so stopping at the bottom was a major issue as well. Looking forward to riding them with some proper rubbers on0 -
Down Cragg Vale, into Hebden Bridge, minced down the Blue Pig, rode Pecket Well A and B then steady back down the Rochdale Canal to Oldham. 4 and a bit hours in total and feel battered now. Great ride though.
It would have been improved if I'd realised earlier that I'd done the Hebden descents with my TALAS in shortest mode. I thought I was more mincey than normal.0 -
A great night ride from Congleton up to Bosley Cloud and back.
It was quite cold at the trig point:
But the descent to the bottom was great fun - fast, loose & sketchy0 -

2 miles to Uni and back I have to find some riding routes around Notts for when I fancy a quick blast - NTU MTB do not do rides frequently enough..0

Check out Bikely.com and buy an OS map of the area and plan your own routes. Then you can lead groups for the club and up the ante for the number of rides. Increase peoples interest and they will likely share their knowledge too.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
I did a lot of trailside maintenance to my bike at Lee Quarry today. I managed a little bit of riding in-between this.
I did manage to hit, properly, the 1st and 3rd of the rock steps that are labelled black that I have been mincing down the side of, so was properly chuffed. The second one is just a bit bigger and puts me off, but I'll get it soon.
Things that broke today:
Front puncuture (thorn)
Rear puncture (thorn, again)
Rear pads (had a set on me; I should have picked up on this before I left, they were to the metal on one side so I think I have a sticky piston).
KS Lev faff, as it came back from Bike Discount for a warranty repair missing the spring that helps return the lever, but I chose to ride with it anyway.0 -
Went to Sherwood Pines today, and boy was the red route muddy!! Good fun though, although rear mech decided the mud was too much for it, as did the disc brakes haha!!! Some points I was up to way above my bottom bracket in water though!!Kev

So yesterday i did a local offroad route of about 10 miles...the mud, the wet , the fallen trees and the cold about did for me...it took me 10minutes longer than usual and i felt totally shattered...so today I borrowed a mates road bike and took it for a 20 mile spin...managed to fallout with an old fart within 5 mins of setting off, getting a real dose of road rage, and while the rest of the ride was OK it wasn't anything like as much fun.....
message to self....stick with the mountain bike:)Robbroo0 -
First time at Bike Park Wales today on my xc bike. I have done the black trails thinking the blues and reds would be a bit boring. I was very wrong!
The blues are beginner friendly but hit them with sone speed and there's loads of doubles and good size step down.
Following a couple fast riders was hilarious, I have never seen someone six foot in the air competely sideways on a blue trail before!
Five laps were enough though, the climb isn't too bad but the fifth time up was tough.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

That's exactly what I've been reading about the place - that the blues and reds are beginner friendly, but also hugely entertaining for more talented riders carrying more speed. Good trick, that.0 -
The trail builders have done an amazing job.
I have never spent so much time in the air or hit such crazy speeds on a blue trail before!Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Lee and Cragg with a bloke much fitter than I am. Good session though. One massive OTB though, so new helmet required. Glad I chose to wear my 661 Sub Gear as I landed head and shoulder first.0

Not many soft places to land there, is there. I guess quarries are always going to be quite rocky though...0 -
True, stupid fall onto what would have been a soft bit, if it didn't have the pile of rocks on it! Found a crack on my helmet when I got home, so I was a lucky boy.0
