    Guisburn red today,
Been 3 month before I have used the MTB with any real determination since my wee off and injury at Lee, certainly made me know I was out of practice and still sore from the off.

Is the new section of trail open yet? Is the last section still closed for repairs, or is that finished?

Dont think i can be much help, only the 2nd time I have been, 1st being 4 year ago.
There is a section near the car park closed off, i presume that being the last section? We started at the top near Tosside.

Yeah, that's the section they were closing for much needed repairs. The new section bypasses the first boring fire road climb (if you start from the main carpark), was due to open around April time, I believe.

After 3 weeks off due to illness(es) I managed my first ride this morning. Just 15km locally around Tandle Hill but it felt OK.

Did you lock up at the last minute and skid up to it to get the bike like that?

Swinley for me, first proper ride there really since they redid the trails, 3 laps of the blue, a lap of the red and a lap of the green. Blue's good fun, red was rather soggy, but would be good in the dry I'm sure. Green is really really green and only about 5 minutes long!

Nice the forecast rain wasn't nearly as bad as threatened.

After feeling OK from yesterday's ride I went for double the distance this morning, up past Hollingworth Lake and back past Ogden. I'm not properly recovered, it was really hard work and what normally takes less than 2 hours for just under 30Km took over 2 and a half today. I'll do a few hour rides in the week and hopefully get some fitness back.

FoD mini enduro today. Absolutely horrible conditions, very sloppy. Like a ploughed field in places. My rubber queen's just clogged instantly.
Good trails though, well worth a return visit when it's dry.

The wind today was minging, we had a headwind from Ainsworth round to Kingsway, despite changes of direction en route. Dont get beat up about it.

Laggan Wolftrax. Brilliant ride on the black and red runs. Only problem is, there is no coffee shack there now.
  • Wet and windy "best bits" loop at Cwmcarn.. well half a loop anyway.

A quick jaunt on my new Spectral up the Grand Union Canal from Watford to Berkhamstead and back again.

Was a really nice day, little chilly, The Old Mill pub supplied a pint and some lunch and now I've just finished cleaning my bikes ready to start a new set of shifts tomorrow.

Off to Afan next week and can't wait!

Me and my son rode up the Elan valley today weather was spot on not to warm but dry, started off from the visitors centre and rode up along 3 of the lakes and over the top of the mountains past a old roman fort which must of been around 8ish miles up hill and the back down hill to Rhayader which was quite a stoney, rocky rock drop off sort of track good fun though.

Just local round Tandle Hill. Found a new little trail to explore, and was glad I'm still running some mud tyres. It all started well then ended up in the only boggy trail in a 10 mile radius', narrow with blackberry bushes either side. My calves and firearms aren't happy.

Went to Ryton Willows with the kids, a few nice jumps, pump track, skills area, bits of single track and a some short downhill routes.

All went horribly wrong when my son took his BMX down a jump he'd been fine on my MTB.
I'd gone down it a few times and was getting good air, I didn't think he'd do it on the BMX but he followed me.
He says he took the drop too fast and took the wrong line on the drop so was going too fast when he hit the jump.
I saw him take the jump then lose it a little in the air and lose the front end as he landed.

He now has a gash that'll end up as a V or Nike style tick on his shin:

The experience hasn't knocked his confidence, he's keen to get back on and gutted that he has to take at least a week off while it heals.

The bike's fine in case you're wondering!
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

Croft Trail in Swindon for the Hargroves demo day. What a fab little trail tucked away just stones throw from the centre of Swindon. Driven past there so many times without a clue as to what was tucked away. I found out the hard way that twisty route, very close trees and 29er don't mix well. Splat. Luckily nobody saw me making a complete tit of myself. On the plugs side, demo days are fab!
All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

Avil Ball downhill trails on Exmoor today. Very steep and really loose. Nice spot to ride but the northshore looked a bit out of place, well built though.
