Rode the Brecon Beast today for the first time. 3hrs 50min (with 1 puncture).
Next year 100km route and a much lighter rucksack!0 -
Triscombe downhill tracks today. Big rocks, big roots, big jumps, big gaps and big grins.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

I've always bottled that and taken the alternative route to the right. Made one attempt at it, but chickened out, aborted and bailed out at the top, lol. My mate just let the brakes off and rolled straight down it no trouble.0 -

The bit that always put me off was the one big slab in the middle you can't see the back of. It's actually not that big. The whole thing looks like nothing from the bottom if you look back up it. Now I've done it once I'll be fine with it every time.
I rode the qualifier properly for Hully Gully too.
I got a lot of confidence from a skills course on The Blue Pig with Ed Oxley a few weeks ago.0 -
My son and I took an MTB and a road bike to a local skate park and messed about on the ramps much to the bemusement of the kids on BMX, scooters and skateboards.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0

Did my local 10 miler yesterday, started out in drizzle and ended up an torrential rain, got home and then the sum came out :twisted:I'm not old I'm Retro0

I rode W2 at the weekend on my Hardtail and loved it but I think I made a right arse of Whites level by not doing the trial trail and cycling back up darkside and just followed the diversion signs I think it will give me something to go back for though.
I ran my tyres at a slightly lower pressure and avoided any puntures but my days was it an uncomftable bouncy ride, its the rockiest trail I've riden I think. I finally overcame my Northshore fear though.0 -

I rode the Brecon Beast as well, did the long (97k) route in a fraction over 7 hours. Quite a long walk up the 'wrong' side of the gap. Looking forward to the results upload so I can compare my time. Our fastest club member did it in under six hours I think.
I'd seen this referred to as the Brecon Bunny, granted there was a fair amount of road, but it was still tough.Trek Stache 8 29er

Aye, from the bottom it looks easy, but peering over the approach it looks a whole lot more worrying, lol...Now I've done it once I'll be fine with it every time.
Like getting your GF to take anal for the first time...I rode the qualifier properly for Hully Gully too.
The initial drop in? I noticed that they'd blocked off the roll in option on the left, I assumed it was to make the entry point a "qualifier" - i.e. if you can't do this bit then you probably don't want to venture any further. I love Hully Gully. I have all the technique and finesse of a dead hippo down there, but it's a giggle. Last time I did it (bank holiday Monday) was after a couple of days rain, so it was a bit slippy. I had a near crash - front end washed out, I thought I was going down the drop into the gully, then it gripped, slewed across the trail to the left and I ended up among the long grass, still somehow upright, lol.I got a lot of confidence from a skills course on The Blue Pig with Ed Oxley a few weeks ago.
I did the Stop Crashing, level one course with Ed at Gisburn, Saturday before last. Ironically, I crashed my new bike for the first time, right at Ed's feet. Good day though, and he's a good teacher. If anything, the course showed me that I'm even more s**t than I thought it was, but I took away a lot from the day to practice and hopefully improve with.0 -
Just for a change i went to bike park wales again!
The first time there in the wet and still not trusting my back wheel or my lack of braking power plus i wasn't feeling too good (before i started) but still managed to get in a few trails before calling it a day.I don't know enough to make smart r's remarks about peoples choice of parts 'n' things, yet!0 -
Did this: http://app.strava.com/activities/81903519#
Found the route on PedalNorth in the "easy" section, but I didn't find it that easy climbing at up to 14% for over a mile on a rocky bridleway, while dodging the Cows.
Enjoyed it though, proper mountain country and the views when I got up to the top were fabulous. Will be doing that again0 -
Did the Cardingham woods trails in Cornwall on Saturday with a mate, nothing epic or over technical but really really good fun, with loads of fun whoops and berms and small jumps and fast rolling sections. I would thoroughly recommend it if you live with in a couple of hours drive.
The Cake in the Cafe was ace too :PI'm not old I'm Retro0 -

Antur Stiniog. It is superb, I only rode the red and blue (mainly the blue) and it was brilliant fun. Great set up, efficient uplift with virtually no waiting (I got 17 runs in total, and missed maybe one for repairs and one because I couldn't move my legs at the end of the day), great staff, great cafe and really nice people on the uplift. It is a real bike killer though. I snapped a mech hanger, but others were shredding tyres, apparently a guy snapped a carbon frame, two guys were riding chainless on the last runs and someone else lost a bit of tooth.

Taff Buggy today and tomorrow. Fast, wet and loose, like a good woman.
One wheel destroyed today and big leg gash but good fun.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Good day at Gisburn. Sunshine, lap of the 8 trail and a trip down the Hope Line. Clean bike now rather muddy and in need of much cleaning again, lol.0

Forest of Dean Enduro yesterday.
Entered as a 'dads and lads' team with my mate and our 13 year old sons. It was good fun, although a puncture after about 2 miles cost me about 15 minutes.
A Pieminister pie from the cafe after the ride made up for it though.“Life has been unfaithful

Queen Elizabeth Country Park - Red Trail was in good nick, though some of the roots are very slippery. Then over to try out Enduro Trail 4 - which I did not enjoy as much as the other three - before heading home via Ditcham, the Compton tea rooms (hmm, cream tea - must still be summer) and finally Kingley Vale.Vitus Sentier VR+ (2018) GT Grade AL 105 (2016)

Follow the dog (as usual) had to take to the car to the garage at 8:30 so just a quick blat round, then home. It's a nice easy fun trail now I know it like the back of my hand, nice and grippy too and not really any puddles.
Going to Scotland has got me the bug of trying differnt places though. God know's how I'm going to blag the wife into letting me go to wales next year.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

Did the Loughrigg Loop from Ambleside. Jesus, that's gotta be the toughest 14 miles I've ever done on a bike
After looking at the Strava segments afterwards, I am an utter pussy at descending but I'm not out for speed on the MTB. Great ride, really enjoyed it and I need to go do it again.

Swinley - first time I've been there since they established 'proper' colour coded, sign-posted routes. Was fun and definitely will return. Its only 25 minutes up the road. Have XC'ed from there back home before now.1999 Scott Vail - Work commute
