Quite, and not to mention the fact you can find out so much more about people this way.

    Dont do that.

So apart from MsManc revealing the very worst that Cake Stop/Bottom Bracket breeds, I'm not sure what this little exercise proves.

Well, it demonstrates that CC is BB with all of the teenagers and students taken out, that teenagers and students eventually have to grow up and get jobs and start commuting and that questions such as how do you transport a shirt whilst getting a good workout take on a new importance, and that nob-gags and sexist jokes must be subtle enough to pass the "moderate safe search" test in order to safeguard ongoing employment.

Irony is, my original quizzical question (last year and in the face of a ridiculous swear policy) was:

Why can I not swear on these forums but Cake Stop can post extreme sexually suggestive images? (Some images were soft porn/vulgar/straight up gap material).

Then female members here, because there were none in Cake Stop, said that they actually took issue/offence to those images.

Cake Stop uproar - the very worst was misogynistic comments/PMs - we've touched on the culture/behavior that place can breed.

And then the creation of Bottom Bracket.

Still can't fucking swear though! Interestingly, I didn't even intend for all the drama and creation of Bottom Bracket, the users of that section just dug themselves their own grave.

Cake Stop/Bottom Bracket doesn't breed people who tell female members to "go and get raped". You might notice that everyone, including the regulars in Cake Stop and Bottom Bracket, were bloody disgusted.

So you might want to rephrase and take back that comment. It's up to you, like.

With all due respect, there was a bit of a pack mentality when it originally happened, and I felt very uncomfortable - very few people stood up for me and I think this is what DDD was referring to. The comment was a PM, which I didn't make public until yesterday, and people who read that yesterday commiserated - I'd hardly call that all the regulars in CS and BB, who gave me the distinct impression that I should just toddle off on my non-existent Pashley and get my hands in the sink. Two of the more vocal and offensive combatants in the argument, who still post regularly in CS and were involved in the debate with Greg certainly didn't give a sh*t.

The problem with the original question of "why can't I do this if they can do that?" is that in my experience this never leads to permission to do this being granted, but almost invariably leads to the doing that being forbidden.
The comment made to MSM is of course despicable and I would like to think anybody still posting on any of these forums (fora?) would agree with that.
I try to treat people on here as I would in real life, sometimes I may cause offence where none is meant as tone is hard to convey in type if so I apologise. I think most others do the same. Unfortunately the anonymity of a user name can lead some to act in a way they wouldn't face to face. This shows a distinct lack of backbone.

Don't think we have, but would be glad to. I wasn't thinking of anyone in particular when I made that comment, although I certainly wouldn't say that I think that of you.
I'm not going to get into naming who may or may not be the same in the flesh. I'm just saying treat people the same way you would were you talking face to face. Yes, I'm sure I often am an irritating tool face to face as well.

Dude, really? Have some pride and stand by your convictions. The entire pathetic pantomime came about because you got on one of your silly, and rather predictable, crusades. You were backed up by a very vocal female member who happened to have the moral high ground and who strangely disappeared the second she got her own way.

I can't believe this them-n-us crap has surfaced yet again. And to judge an entire forum of individuals based on a single, spineless PM... People come on!

He has clearly lost this one and doesn't like it one little bit: the request to have BB closed down was shot down by the the Mods, end of argument. Last years effort to get the 'Girls' threads stopped failed in equally spectacular fashion as we all know.

This was brought up again because it is déja vu: some people just won't let it lie even when they've lost - and he has gone on to prove us right again by trying to carry on the argument. A 'rolleyes' emoticon is simply not enough here

Jonny - agree with you that trying to tar entire forums because of the actions of one particularly nasty tw@t is just scraping the bottom of the barrel.

We're talking about different things. I am talking exclusively about the abhorrent PM and DDD's shocking leap of logic. I don't deny there was some pack mentality bollocks going on at the time, but DDD was aiming squarely at the content of the PM - "...apart from you revealing..." - and claiming that CS and BB breeds that kind of behaviour.

    It doesn't.
