  • I tried changing my password again - the data updates haven't been made so, summary is :

    - logged in (successful)
    - go to edit my entry
    - submit changes
    - website says my password is wrong, but it let me log on already.

My gut says there is a second password call when you go to update and it's not registering a change in the pw db when you change from the initial pw (though the log in screen seems fine - its just the update procedure). But I've not changed my pw back to validate the theory... Thoughts?

UPDATE: I'm a blind fool and didn't spot the pw box on the update page. Ignore the above!!
Thats OK. Its caught me out a couple of times and I wrote the thing!

Asking for the password again is an easy way to validate the update without messing around with maintaining user - session relationships. Maybe I'll change that but since the whole thing took me only 30min to write I did it the simplest way.

    Guys,

I work in IT so this is embarassing...

I have added my record (registering) using my username as my password. I have then tried to change password. Am asked for my original password (which is username) and new password. I am then told that my password is not accepted /recognised. I try and login with username / password (old) and that doesn't work either.

I'm confused and wondering if I should try a different career (after 12 years in IT)....

Weighed myself yesterday morning and came in under 12st for the first time in four years (that was following a very warm Highclere sportive, when I was massively dehydrated and it took every ounce of energy to finish).

Interesting calorie calc formula from the Livestrong.com web site

    Take a look at this calorie expenditure equation for men from the "Journal of Sports Sciences": Calories = [(0.2017 x Age) + (0.6309 x Heart Rate) - (0.09036 x Weight) - 55.0969] x Time / 4.184.

Using that formula, a 29-year-old man weighing 180 lb., performing interval training for 20 minutes with an average heart rate of 150, will burn only 139 calories.

Did the calc for my ride on Sat. and came up with 1522 garmin says 1818

    [(0.2017X40)+(0.6309x151)-(0.09036x250) -55.0969] x 65/4.184 =

    8.068+95.2659-22.59-55.0696 = 25.6743

    25.6743 x 65 / 4.184 = 398.8598

    Garmin says 1497

Not sure about that formula though, it implies a heavier rider uses less calories.....

Despite having only eaten 2.5 tins of soup since Sunday I appear to have lost nothing, explain?

Last night's weigh in came in at 71.8 KG, so this healthy eating lark appears to be working! I'm using an app called MyFitnessPal to track calorie intake and exercise. Aiming for around 1800 calories a day. Exercise wise I'm Turboing on Tues and Thurs mornings (pre brekkie). Commuting 13 miles a day 5 days a week, and then riding between 40 and 60 miles on Sat or Sun. Gonna up the weekend miles gradually and begin to throw in more climbing as winter ebbs. Hoping the training mileage and Turbo sessions will pay dividends.

+1 for MFP. My target was 1300 a day though. I've had to relax that to 1500 as I was just starving, all of the time!

    1300? Fook.

I'm just making sure what I eat is good. So lots of baked fish/steamed chicken. Homemade bean casseroles & banana smoothies, porridge, soup, loads of pea puree (which I love)! Cut out almost all processed foods - make my own bread. No booze in the week really helps as well, and I'm not really missing it. I do treat myself to a hot chocolate with skimmed milk after each commute, and use REGO after training sessions and munch on Soreen during weekend rides. TBH I'm still hungry quite often, but given I used to eat like a pig I'm assuming that my stomach will shrink a bit. I'm feeling good on the bike at weekends as well, so seem to be getting all the carbs I need. Wondering how long I'll keep this up for!

Don't know if you've drunk anything calorific, but I thought starvation tends to prompt your body into hanging onto energy stores rather than burning through them.

EDIT: 1300kcal? Think I'd pass out on that few

I need to get a serious start on my weight-loss regime. MFP is great. I was meant to be going to the States this week and it's hopeless trying to eat properly when you're jetlagged - especially in the States. But then Mrs MRS broke her foot so I'm now chief cook & bottlewasher at home too which is a disaster because I just can't be bothered after my ride home so it's oven chips far too frequently. I've also not been riding as much because I'm taxi/ambulance driver to the various kids and/or cripples in my home. So, currently, it's just damage limitation....

  • Bollox! It would appear I must have changed my password for the stat logging site. OptimisticBiker: any way I can rescue my password?

Anyway, down to 87kg as of this morning. I'm pleased with that considering I haven't done anything too hardcore. Another 4kg at least to go!

  • So here's an idea...

How many of you have an Android phone? Would an Android App be useful to enter/track your efforts... it would still appear by magic on the website as well... :)

BTW, I notice that very few of you seem to be actually tracking... 50% haven't updated within the last 2 weeks...does this mean you're not losing weight or you've given up???
