It hacks me off when I get into a zone and rhythm cadence wise.

That was a good run too, normally I seem to attract people pressing the button at crossings

I am currently fuelling up for an attempt to raise my standings on the KOM blackheath hill segment, my excuse is that I never knew it was one the only time I had strava running when I went up it.

I did it this morning on the way to work with Shooters Hill and managed a 1:02 and I reckon I could easily get 8 seconds off that

Just jumped up 6 places on the leader board added 3 mph to my speed and knocked off 28 seconds, I dod over cook it and blew up before the end, next time I will hold a bit more back as my speed did drop off then picked back up, I'm nowhere near fully fit though, need to do more hill repeats.

The guy above me is only 4 seconds quicker, I reckon I can do that

Two more segments to overcome on the commute before I have a KOM clean sweep. London Bridge north is very traffic dependent so could take a while. College Road looks unattainable for now - current KOM rode for US in the Olympics!

Might go the long way in tomorrow, taking in the twin beasts of Anerley Hill and Balham Hill...

Well, that's the benchmark set for the morning commute this week. Fastest CB to VB, 2nd fastest Westminster to Blackfriars, fastest Westminster to Southwark.

The ride home was a little more weather stricken for the first 1/2 but was still fastest VB to CB (traffic killed the BB to AB portion).

I think we need a ruling on "commutes" outside of regular commuting hours. Mr Beresford has once again been riding on the quiet roads post-watershed to set the fastest times.

Ahh that's why it's not registering as I turn off at the common, will have to note the start point and not do my usual 20 mph up the gradual slope and save it for the segment

I must protest, working late and still commuting home.. Heck I ought to get Kudos as I actually have to go out of my way to get the tracked segments in!

Ha! I know the fastest woman on the Shooter's Hill climb - Federica Lippi! I had no idea she was on Strava...

This is why I find trying to compete on the commute as fairly meaningless, if fun. My avg commute speed is in no way representative of my real ability because I'm constantly slowing down, speeding up for traffic and lights etc. Some days I get a clear blast, other days not. Time taken and avg speed are far more influenced by things outside my control than my own power and athletic ability...

 Yet again an after work lecture mean I could commute home at around 8:15pm!

I do "kind of" agree with you, however lots of people work a range of hours as JDS said.

One thing is after looking at the full leaderboard there is a wide range of times, for example th current 2nd place rode segment at 8:41pm. Strava is playing up now so I can't quote teh times but i'm sure if you have a look you can get the idea :)

And I managed to knock off the 8 seconds today had a good ol run at it and now got the KOM for Blackheath Hill

I agree with Headhunter about things outside your control. Slowing down for dog walkers and deer has an effect, then filtering past traffic is a lot slower than riding along with moving traffic. These are my excuses and I'm sticking to them.
On the other hand I was surprised how little difference not trying makes. Friday evening I just pootled due to feeling a bit rough, then had a chat whilst riding along with a mate. Not too much slower. This morning I was very slow due to feeling rough and outside influences.
I've still only got myself to race. I want to beat my motorcycle times on the bicycle. I might do a lap of the park when I feel a bit better.

There are too many duplicate segments out there.... Somebody seems to have used a divining rod to plot the GPS coordinates of this one: http://app.strava.com/segments/759215

Somebody with a vested interest perhaps? Shenanigans...

Can we have "Official" SCR segments associated with the group?
