Can we have "Official" SCR segments associated with the group?
Agree on the "official" segments - can't work out the one mentioned; it's been ridden 18 times by 13 people yet shows a ride from 2010, it reckons I've ridden it once and where are you NSB?0 -

That aimed at me? Its not my segment - in fact its annoying as its now ignoring me on the proper Millbank Sprint (North). Theres also a Royal Lights to CB lights segment that it won't pick up either.0 -
I've had a look but I can't see a way of doing it. The "official" Embankment segments are the ones I'm doing the weekly report on, I'm sure these are of little interest to those not on our routes though.
Still, if you end up top of some random segment I don't think you can really complain, can you?FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0 -

The segments posted on this thread, and in particular the elevation info, are doing nothing to alleviate my general scepticism of bike-based GPS. Height info seems to be ±20 feet; in central London, that's the difference between up hill and down hill.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Its a bit funny how it ignores some riders on certain routes. I'm sure it'll improve as the code behind the site does though.0 -

GPS is pretty bad at judging height from what I gather, but devices like the Garmin 800 (and I think the 500) have barometric altimeters so they tend to be more accurate. I suspect that the routes with poor altitude data were recorded from the Strava phone app.0 -
I think NSB is right about altitude. My climb to work varies from 0 to 312feet. Using an iPhone. I think I climb about 6 feet in reality.0

Many website's like Garmin's Connect one allow you to apply elevation correction which uses a database of height information against latitude/longitude. As has been said, GPS is not so great at elevation.FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0

I want a "block user" option, the same guy who was mentioned a few pages back for a ridiculously fast time up Brixton Hill has appeared top on another of my segments with a 35.6mph average!

2nd place on there looks almost doable on a TT bike....0 -
Veronese68 wrote:I agree with Headhunter about things outside your control. Slowing down for dog walkers and deer has an effect, then filtering past traffic is a lot slower than riding along with moving traffic. These are my excuses and I'm sticking to them.
On the other hand I was surprised how little difference not trying makes. Friday evening I just pootled due to feeling a bit rough, then had a chat whilst riding along with a mate. Not too much slower. This morning I was very slow due to feeling rough and outside influences.
I've still only got myself to race. I want to beat my motorcycle times on the bicycle. I might do a lap of the park when I feel a bit better.
Bushy park is quite slow going, if it's good weather loads of walkers etc! takes me almost 30mins door to door some 20 mins or so are the park, i do like the park though.0 -

Just filter by SCR to remove him. That's what I've done to get the SCR Top Rider list.

I just noticed that JZed has broken the speed of sound. I know that he's fast but something's amiss here: http://app.strava.com/rides/1778181#28580167FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0

I like the concept but the site UE leaves a lot to be desired, not easy to navigate and a lot of the data upload is frankly tosh, unless of course myself and the other riders really did a lap of RP @ 70+mph :shock:Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

I've noticed it seems to calculate all lap routes wrongly.FCN 9 || FCN 50

Mmmm - if you look at my commute yesterday morning I did a 1:01 - its just not showing up. And given that your average speed was slower on the commute in yesterday I think I'll have that KOM.0 -
Anyone else entered the main KOM comp? I'm at 108k ft atm but alas I rarely record my commutes with the garmin so that figure is a very low est at best, damn!!!Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Over 3200ft a day is hilly just some of us don't record every trip ;-)

Well I got a good run of the lights at that point so could get up to full speed. Heart rate was at 195bpm and was a little worried about braking.
It is showing just under a duplicate Millbank section. Can't work out how to swap it.0 -

That whole top section looks perfectly legit, it's well known cycling is the fastest way to get around London and this just proves it ;-)0 -

looks like a fault with the code, as every one seems to be doing improbable speeds mind you a segment that short in a underpass is perhaps asking for trouble.0 -

Chapeau, JZed!0 -
I got just under 70mph on the embankment whilst in the river, which I thought was quite impressive0

I'm confused, had a go at Balham Hill this am and recorded a faster average speed but slower overall time compared to my best. How does that work? I may have looked like I was trying as well, it's just an illusion.Bianchi Nirone C2C FCN40

DDD must have been having a crack at it and had skewed the space/time continuum with the Power Awesome, making the segment longer momentarily. It's the only explanation.0
