Utter tosh, I just created a segment out of interest because I ride it everyday and whilst very short its is a sharp climb, yesterday I rode up it at 22mph (yes its short) today I created a segment and would you know it's seems only today's ride is showing as ever ridden that segment .....mmmm

I'll check again tomorrow but I have to say the concept is good but the accuracy is very much wanting.
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

When you first create a segment from a ride, the only ride that will register against it will be the ride the segment was taken from. It can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours (in my experience) for the full leaderboard to be built against the segment.

Well you've already shown your penis on Strava according to one report. And it had notched up a few achievements.

Ah yes, Okgo's revealing interpretation of a recent GPS Squiggle. The temptation of course is to plan a suitable route and do a much better job of it!

Nailed Queens ride/Bolan bridge after half a dozen times of trying..

Not much of a tailwind either. Hopefully it will last longer than my last KOM!

one i made took a couple of days to populate. I guess it depends how often its been ridden previous.

I'll have that one when the coast is clear. Was close the other night ;)

In other news, no KOM tonight, but took the SCR Crown for Box thanks to me chasing some quick guys up there and nearly killing myself. I've worked out it was around 5.48 for the Classic Segment (as it didn't match me) and got 5.30 for the slightly shorter one.

Completely new to this Strava lark.

Can somebody briefly explain to me please - I've created a profile on my phone and logged in etc.

Do I need to do anything before setting off? Like opening the app, or does it just know when I'm travelling at bike speed and turn itself on?

These used to be my commuting routes home, from Dyce to Port Elphinstone.
Back in the days before Strava, that was.

If you're using a phone app, the app will need to be running and you'll need to have started a ride.
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

Open the app, set it running, then lock your screen and off you go. When you've finished stop it recording, finish the ride, then upload to Strava. Robert's your Mother's brother.

    I see now. Thanks.

Won't be taking anybody's segments any time soon but I'm quite excited about this.

Box hill is easy, just take it gently, spin faster rather than grinding away and get a steady rhythm going... its not steep particularly, just long... concentrate on breathing and keeping a steady pace... on the right hand hairpins, stay left, on the left hand ones move to the middle of the road (traffic permitting)

Cheers - we went up last Sat and I then played a 60 over cricket match on Sunday so it's now that my legs are suffering.

Couple of laps of Box Hill on my way home tonight so that should either sort me out or finish me off.

Pah! You're 7 seconds off the pace and if I'm honest I had to ease off as I thought I might take off over the bridge..

Okay so more people are listed now http://app.strava.com/segments/1471385 but i'm still the KOM

  • Ha ha - someone has clearly created a new segment this morning (Chelsea Bridge to Vauxhall Bridge) so that they could have a KOM but my QOM time is faster! Not sure how long my time will last either - wasn't particularly pushing it today and caught a red light near the top... Oh dear ;)

*lost already as expected! Still found it amusing...
Nice weather bike: Fondriest TF2 (white/ black)
Training Bike: Giant Avail (white/ blue/ green)
Track bikes: Planet X Franko Bianco (white) and 7VRN (white/ black)

I stop commuting for a while and this is what happens. Looks like I might have to take a ride past that segment later on.

Hmm - after one day and 52.2km, I think I can see why this is so addictive.

There's a couple of segments I have my eye on. The area near where my parents live is a bit of a black spot so I'll be heading up there soon.

yep. Got a pb and top 10 last night that Strava wants to keep secret.

In other news, dark hill in 1 min exactly and a 2nd overall for the hill out of Surbiton towards chessington.

Annoying, seems to do it a lot. Popular segments n all. Last night, it didn't track a bunch of my segments because the GPS went a bit mental and had me off course. Not sure if I mind as there was a headwind... but it was my fastest commute home due to green lights most of the way :) . That was a decent exchange for once.

nope, a Japanese steel frame, dt shifters and white planet x al30. Mint green though so guess it may look bianchi-esque. Nike shorts, grey top, no clips (though just received my shiny double strap kierin toe clips in the post! I'll soon be attached to my bike!)

Hmmm, I think the new bike is very fast. I picked up a 7th overall on a hill and only 16 seconds off top, with a set of dead legs. Now to plan a route to take in as many of the local strava segments as possible.
