Lovely ride home. Not too busy and weather was spot on. Cheeky KOM up Latchmere Hill too. Not that a gaining a 19 second KOM makes up for losing a 19 minute KOM yesterday.

No sooner had I got Ballet School back that it got nicked back. And I doubt I'll beat his time on my work bike.

I managed a KOM today, ok it was descending my local Leckwith Hill - hit a PB top speed of 53.6mph, ave on the decent 43.9mph - that'll do.

This has got me thinking about/justifying/browsing for n+1. I managed 5th on Ballet School yesterday on my hub geared Genesis Day 01 which is a fantastic bike but by no means a lightweight; hmmm, do I 'need' a lithe carbon summer bike to compliment it? (yes)

No, of course you don't. What you want is a nice dutch bike. Fear of being humiliated talking

At least he wasn't commuting (off to the Pearson 150 early doors) when he took the KOM and must have been very lucky with the lights...(other interpretations are fuelled by envy  ).

I got a new pb acw kingston gate! Just under 20 mins solo and nobody to chase. Sadly though I was way off the pace on sawyers and dark hill, but that means there is plenty of scope for improvement. 18 mins by august, please.

Nice one. On the 3LC thread about three or four years ago, a chap posted that it's worth doing those hills quickly to improve recovery while taking it steady in between, which will then lower your lap time. Helped me no end.

well here lies the frustration! I was 30 secs Off my pb on sawyers and 7 seconds off my dark hill, yet I was genuinely expecting a new pb on both with the effort I thought I put in.
But the evenings are now light enough to get out once the boys are in bed! Got to love this time of year and twilight riding!

You bust a hump to get up them; feel as if you're flying, struggling your breathe at the top, soft pedal at the top, but console yourself with the thought that you're sure you've got a PB, only to see the "This Ride Earned No Achievements [You Utter Loser]" bar come up.

    Yeah, I feel your pain.

Ah, that'd be my little jaunt around RP too then. Not done anything of note in almost 3 months (busy/holiday/work) and finally got back to RP.
Two 20 minute laps, no achievements. Wasn't trying to set any fast times but given there are hundreds of segments in the park I thought it'd at least give me one or two. A Strava pity-f*ck as it were.
Also, knackered when I got home

Liking the 'Someone stole your KoM' emails, particularly when one arrives just as you're leaving work and there's a (relatively rare) tailwind on the segment :)

The third place I picked up on that the other day was from a standing start so I reckon I'll take this one soon. I was showing off for a workmate though. Oh I have been knocked down to 4th!

I didn't think that was very sporting. Could you not have given me an evening of smugness?

Ahhhh got the KOM email tonight, not a major issue I thought, until I looked. The chap has taken Swains Lane off me :( By 6 seconds too! Good time!

I've just created a bike radar 'club' on Strava. Since so many of us are using it I thought it might be nice to have an area there to see each others rides etc.

    *edit* - never mind - I see there's already a group like this - d'oh!

I kind of couldn't believe there wasn't already a group, but when I searched on Strava for Bike Radar nothing came up.

Have deleted the group I created - no need to confuse the issue :)

Damn it just got the dreaded uh oh email as I had my 2 Richmond Park via Pen Ponds KOM stole I had a feeling they would tumble today with that strong wind from the east but was hoping everyone else would be hitting Sawyers instead!

That's my usual route so it would have been rude not to give it some beans from the gate to the avenue ;)

Not sure I'll hold those for long if anyone else takes a punt with this wind though...

I got one while away on hols, my KOM on the blackheath sprint, he only equalled it though and I had to back off on my run to avoid going into the back of a black cab so a bit more to come.
  • Got a third overall last night, thought the end of the segment was earlier than it was - could have kept pushing for the three seconds required to claim KOM. Easy to say in retrospect.
