Bagged a KOM on my new commute, on a hill, 13 seconds quicker than second. Says it all about the competition on the new commute. 5 segments on the way and and 6 on the way home to smash.

Sounds like you need to make some new ones ;)

Ben - Did I see you last night near Ave Road? about 6pm ish?

Not last night, mate. I'm using this wet weather to force me to rest my knee - back in the saddle on Saturday when my mate visits.

Where is Ave Road, by the way?

After looking on Strava I didn;t say i rode with you, but just wondered as the chap was on a Felt road bike, you don't tend to see many!

Ave Rd is at the North middle point of Regents Park, where many segments start, and that's where I enter.

Ah, I see. And I know which road you mean.

As for the bike, my Felt is currently up North until I have more space down here... so just keep an eye out for the Dolan for now. :)

May do a couple of laps of Regents Park next week for a bit of a change of scenery, so will look out for you.

Nice one. My right cleat has just started to squeak, so that might help identify me.

Likewise, a quick clean and a spray of wd40 on pedal face and cleat gets rid of that.

You using Look Keo's by any chance ?

Thanks James. Yeh Look KEOs and it's something I have become accustomed to! I find wet chain lube also works...

Was thinking about doing some laps of regents but it looks dull, so think I'll have a couple round Richmond Park.

Same here. I'm keen to see what it's all about, but logging in just sends me to the fora.

Managed a few KOM's today with the aid of some wind and extremely fresh legs :D

Was on an avg of 20.4mph even with some traffice when I left Richmond park and dropped down to 18.8mph on the Garmin after the 6 miles home into that horrific headwind.

Isn't it great when you discover you're KOM on someone else's segment that you didn't know you were doing. I'm still KOM on all the segments on my commute - won't last.

  • On the verge of ripping the pedals off the bike this morning, really gunning for a 2-mile, flat segment. Looked down and saw 37.5 mph on the speedo, held it over 32 the whole distance, pulled up and bloody Strava had done it again: stopped recording 1.4 km from my house. Stoopid Android POS. That's every ride for the past two weeks I've tried, and it's not worked once.

May have invested in a Holux GPSport 245, before I ditch Strava for good.

I use my HTC Android to record my runs with Endomondo... thanks to the POS GPS equipment in the phone, I can't take any meaningful information from the end data. If I'm lucky, then I'll have an estimate of how far I have run without having to plot in Google Maps, but anything else such as pace or elevation is bollox.

So I use my Garmin Edge for cycling and upload the rides to Strava (and Garmin Connect) from there. And I plan to start using it for running.

destroyed my commute last night, 4mins off my PB. should have been KOM on the two strava segments on the route but i got stuck behind a car and had to stop in the middle of the road as they did a 3point turn.

You should have kicked their wing mirror off and put the passenger window through with your frame pump.
