I've uploaded my four most recent rides from my Garmin Connect account. I'm 2nd and 3rd fastest on quite a few segments that I didn't even know existed... or at least that's what I think it's telling me?
Can anyone help? For example, it tells me I'm 2nd fastest for Regents Park CCW, but then I know my time isn't good enough and I am not on the leaderboard. Does it mean I was 2nd fastest on that particular date?
Thanks
PS. add/follow me or whatever one does!
Thanks, that will explain it. I can ride a bit, but I know there are plenty of folk out there quicker than I am and there's no way a 7:30 is going to land me 3rd fastest for a Regents Park lap!
I presume PR = Personal Record?
EDIT: PS. 6th overall on Alexandra Palace Way to Dukes Avenue and I wasn't even trying. This is bringing out the very worst in me.Ben

Added you Ben.
Regents park is a strange one, quite a few junctions & traffic lights so to set a godo time you have to get a clear run! There are loads of segments around the park though
PR = Personal Record
KOM = King of Mountain (leader on segment)
You'll become addicted!0 -

Thanks Will. Regents Park times also depend on if you're willing to jump the red lights as well. I'm not; been warned once when I had a lapse of responsibility and the threatened £30 fine would buy me dinner for the week!Ben

Don't talk to me about fines - I'm just off the phone to the Spanish police, parting with €50 for speeding on the motorway between Barcelona and Valencia earlier this year. The speed cameras over there aren't as visible as the ones in the UK :roll:0

I did 17.4 to Brighton on Sunday and that was very hard work I can tell you
I hear that! I did London to Ditchling Beacon and back on Easter Friday. 18.7 av on the way, 17.6 on the way back (so basically an av of 18mph over 97 miles) - that was indeed hard work.
Also rode a flat-ish 80 mile loop last weekend out Guildford way and managed a 19.1 av. Actually Garmin Connect says 19.4 but Strava downgraded it . That included an unplanned off road section down 2 dirt (mud) tracks, which slowed me big time. I always get annoyed by the return trip into London - lights and traffic means you see the average tick ever downwards and there's nothing you can of about it! Trying to sustain a good pace like that over a long solo ride has to be good training for the Pyrenees in June - all about consistent effort. It is hard work though!- 2023 Vielo V+1

I always find London to Brighton much quicker than the way back even at the same effort level.
Was super pleased with last weeks ride average of 19.6mph (strava downgraded it to 19.4mpg) even though I did dent my average/time with a slow Ditchling climb again.0 -

Nope just to Brighton so worked out at only 53.7 miles over 3071 feet so fairly flat really as there is only one real climb, but when I have rode back before my return leg was 2 mph slower!

I guess the descent in Brighton helps get the average up a little as well - but that's a damn good pace. Planning a Brighton and back when the weather improves, be nice to have lunch by the sea before turning round. The return is always slower eh!- 2023 Vielo V+1

Yep - my route is here http://app.strava.com/rides/6283023. I discovered a good little Cafe somewhere on the way home as well, brilliant chocolate biscuit slice, but I cannot remember where it was! Lindfield maybe?- 2023 Vielo V+1

Bit of luck with the lights along the Embankment, coupled with less traffic as left home late, and lo and behold, I've nabbed the Chelsea Embankment KoM 8)0

Just getting around to uploading my Garmin back catalogue. Turns out I've been KOM on a certain little bastard of a hill up North, near my parents' house for a year or so!Ben

@ willyb
I don't think anyone has given it full beans up there yet, I was on a recovery ride/pootle to Hampstead the other day on the SS for some Easter lunch and managed to get up near the top and didn't even know the segment was there0 -

just tried a Richmond lap before dark but the gps died on sawyers.however, I either pulled a 101 or a 104 up dark hill, depending which segment you read. One places me ahead of jzed, the other does not.

Not being ondon based but in fact miles away oop North, I am still pleased that on a quick blast round tonight I have apparently made first on a little 7.5 mile loop near home.
It's made my day, on top of the Scrumpy I used to rehydrate afterwards (well it was sat in the fridge doing nothing and I was a little thirsty).0 -
Bloody, fecking bastard Strava! Twice this week conditions have been perfect* for a crack at a segment I want. Twice I absolutely blitzed it (flat, 1.8 mile segment, never saw my speedo go under 30 once) to the point of nearly vomiting after the segment and twice Strava seems to have stopped recording *JUST* before the segment starts.
Bunch of blooming arse!

According to strava I managed to set a new record this morning on the hill chasers segment of park street in bristol. I can't believe it's right tbh. I am just getting over a chest infection and had a backpack on, so hardly ideal conditions excluding the other riders i had to get round. Perhaps I should just except my new found climbing prowess.
Be good0 -
I've started following a bunch of folk on Strava - people who I have "ridden with" and people who are being followed by others I follow. With the assumption that many of them are from these boards.
So... "Ben H" on Strava is a not a stalker weirdo, he is me!Ben

Bagged a KOM on my new commute, on a hill, 13 seconds quicker than second. Says it all about the competition on the new commute. 5 segments on the way and and 6 on the way home to smash.0
