Looked down and saw 37.5 mph on the speedo, held it over 32 the whole distance, pulled up and bloody Strava had done it again: stopped recording 1.4 km from my house. Stoopid Android POS. That's every ride for the past two weeks I've tried, and it's not worked once.
May have invested in a Holux GPSport 245, before I ditch Strava for good.
Respect.
That is some speed. I can only dream...0 -
Padders. With all due respect would you please delete yourself from any of the rides I do as whilst I can see myself beating most of the other times yours are rather soul destroying. So nothing personal, but would you mind terribly if I ask you to kindly fook off?
Alternatively I get some MTFU or just don't look.0 -

Good tailwind innit. Plus, because Strava crashed, I can't prove anything anyway, so it never happened.0 -

Strava is no fun on a Garmin 800, no instant post ride gratification0

But now you can also post to Garminconnect, Sport Tracks, Training Peaks and have many subtly different views of your training effort...Nice weather bike: Fondriest TF2 (white/ black)

Is there actually any point in any of those if you already use Strava? I have registered with Garminconnect but never bother uploading rides to it...0 -

It depends on what sort of data you want to see. If you just want the route and basic info, Strava is fine. I have an 800 and when you're looking at longer rides I like the profiles that GC gives you - you can see if your cadence started to drop towards the end of a ride or if your speed was affected by a temperature change... Or if you split your ride into laps you can see that etc etc etc. It's quite a lot more detailed than Strava on a lot of things and for the effort of uploading pretty interesting.
I use Sport Tracks as it's offline and displays everything in a slightly better way than GC whilst giving similar breakdowns (although some data is missing as I haven't paid for plug ins, hence using GC as well).
Not sure about Training Peaks as its the one I don't use but I think that starts to come into it's own if you train with power.Nice weather bike: Fondriest TF2 (white/ black)

Might give it a go then, the speed / HR / cadence info on Strava is all a bit compressed.0 -
What Blonde Cyclist said; Garmin Connect is a really nice piece of free software. Strava is nice for the competetive element, but it does lack some detail for really scrutinising a ride.Ben

Managed to get the Denmark Hill segment on my second attempt, it felt like a good run at the time even though it was a standing start at the lights

PR and second overall for Blackfriars to Westminster, and quickest this week so far on Embankment Westbound. I'll take that0

Got the hump for putting in all that effort only for that smart@rse comment "No achievements earned" to appear?
Simples.
Create your own segment and feel good again.FCN 2-4.

Finally worked out how to get Strava on my android working again. I found that if I cleared all the app's data and re-booted my phone, all was well. The wind wasn't as good as earlier in the week, but I started going for it on the segment I've been gunning for. I re-worked the song, "The Blaydon Races" to tell you all about it.
Way-hay! Me 'nads,
I whacked them on me saddle
thanks to me Keo's crappy cleats,
me foot slipped off me pedal.
Gritted me teeth
an' choked back the tears
I'm clearly an octave higher
and after that there's still no waaaaaaaay
I'm KOM on Strava0 -

I dunno, I found that when I had the powertap and premium Strava I could gain quite a lot of info from it!Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0 -
So Strava gives you a lot of information, if you've shelled out for a power meter and Premium access.Ben

Epic, kudos for cycling back! I was going to do the same but I didn't pack overshoes, couldn't feel my feet for a good 2 hours!
Were you riding in a duo, I came up behind 2 riders [one in a red jacket I think] and was looking forward to a quick chat in the rain but being a Garmin droid followed the directions and went down a side road and came out in front of them. Was dressed in black with a super bright rear light, may have seen me ahead?
Looking at my route it was after Reigate golf club. I went down Orpin road, the others Nutfield.0 -
That would have been us! About 7.30ish? I was in a grey jacket on my blue kona and dave was in the red. It certainly is a small world. We stopped for a "comfort break" not too long after that and then another guy we were with punctured just after turners hill so you probably left us far behind
I dont really remember seeing anyone but it was a bit of a struggle today so was probably sticking to daves wheel trying to keep out of the wind!Banstead in Surrey to Russell square and back
