Did a lap, garmin said 17.33 Strava reckoned a little longer, I was stopped for a bit by Richmond Gate, so I think Garmin probably stopped timing hence the difference.

Thought the wind might have helped, but sadly the bit where it should have (down to Kingston from Richmond) there was a fair bit of traffic after Ham Dip, then it was pounding my face on the long straight Robin Hood to Roehampton, was a right sod! There's deffo time to be saved without cars, without rucksack, in shorts and ss top, with deep wheels. But that seems ok given conditions. Will do 3 at some point when I don't ave a race coming up as it would probably hurt!

If I could mate, I'd be riding a sodding bike for a living. My stretch goal is sub 50 mins, but that would require some special conditions I reckon!

Most of N1 had a powercut so we were sent home as apparently the generators only had a certain amount of power, and they wanted to make sure tomorrow's newspaper was finished so told us advertising lot to turn off our machines to save power ;)

 I await JonGinge, CJCP or IP coming along and doing 4 1/2 min times (fortunately its a bit of a way to go to do)

Your wish is granted (aside from the 4.5 min bit!) Cycled there and back today, so didn't go balls out. Might do one day and get the train back! Lovely ride.

Super disappointed with my Ditchling time as legs were pretty dead by then, but overall had a good ride down there with a 18.9mph avg.

I think we've just done the same ride at the same time!

Can only remember being passed once, which was at the temp lights in Ditchling village, but it's quite likely that was you.

Yep. I was planning to have a good go at Ditchling, but about half way up I really felt the lack of training so came right off it.

Great day though. Rode there and got a train back in just over 4 hours!

Just got back fron a few day son the MTB at Afan, South Wales.

Some interesting segments & a few KOMs :) One which I was quite happy with, but I deleted the route as Strava only recorded half the ride as teh phone battery died! I then uploaded the GPX file (using cyclemeter) which I was also using, and now it wont pick up that KOM :(

Nice morning into RP and up Dark Hill, relatively quiet along Sawyer's hill top with no cars behind or in front of me as I came up to Broomfield so I thought "let's have a go".

B*gg*r me, still can't get under the minute, sitting third on SCR :(

Think that segment is quite reliable - Yurkin.

A chap I ride with did that 16.06 last week and he thought it was accurate.

On a singlespeed I count is as an achievement - that I can whirr my legs that quickly.

How do I get Strava to filter for men in their 40's that are born in Italy, over 6' tall with an English father? I reckon that could get me to the top of that particular grouping.

I seem to have picked up a KOM this morning - Chelsea Bridge Lights to Vauxhall Bridge Lights. Definitely a super tailwind then.

Ahhh Strava, ever the motivator! I see the faster lot are slowly coming out though, I'm only just in the top 50% this month. I'm going to have to mtfu and not roll down the hills with my brakes on :)

I flagged a ride today - feel bad now. Somebody had come out of nowhere and stolen my 3 Denmark Hill KOM's. What made me suspicious was that for the long one, he took 14 seconds out of me. Now this isn't a long segment - my PR is 1:09 I think, so to hammer me by 15 seconds just seemed a bit much. I then checked out his ride and his top speed was 57mph so well dodgy. Thing is, when I googled him it turns out he's an elite cat rider so no doubt a hell of a lot faster than I am. But 15 seconds over that distance - I just can't see it. So, what do we reckon the difference between an enthusiastic 4th cat and an elite cat over half a mile averaging 3% could realistically be?

On a brighter note, three KOM's this morning and a PR up College Road this evening (still well adrift of my pre-Strava PB but moving in the right direction) :)

Garmin, iPhone what ever all GPS devices, get confused etc, even the simple bike speedo can make wild claims let alone GPS devices.

I've flagged a few rides over the last year or so, though normally just really silly ones, such as clearly left on, the way back down the motorway types..

You can have that point. I'm 10 days post ankle op And not allowed back on the bike for another 3-5 weeks, do my retort will be some time in June I'm afraid.

1 of them you stole from me!!! Grrr, Have'nt gone down Brookmill for a while so will need to start taking that route on the way home now!

Yeah I noticed that guy he seems super fast on some of his other rides but was looking at the KOM in question and it went from 4mph to about 30mph in a second so prob some dodgy data!

Oh dear. That's not good. Hope the op went well. Speedy recovery. Look forward to the battle of Millbank South come June.
