Yeah, seems it's only just started doing this. May have a look at the raw GPS traces for odd readings if I can be bothered to see if it's an error introduced by Strava upload or if Strava have changed/removed filtering for odd readings.

Not strictly Strava, but garmin data from Terpstra's ride yesterday... (winning Dwars Door Vlaanderen)

You can tell the first hour was quite fast looking at the power data (the average speed for the first hour was 49.9kph in the race).

    How was he?

Comes across as a hero on TV. Really very nice.

As I say it was brief but seems a nice chap. I was riding as part of the corporate team element of the sportive so we had a presentation thing. He was part of that.

    Good trip

I think its Strava only as when I look at the same ride on Connect it doesn't have the same jumps. Doesn't affect my speed or distance either, so can't do a Vermin.

He has since dropped the power stats from his latest rides, but certainly highlights the power difference between a good club rider and a pro.

Seems Strava has changed its interpolation or filtering mechanism slight, either that or the GPS signals have changed somewhat. Almost every ride I do through the Blackfriars Tunnel shows a massive spike in where I've been, and it seems to be happening to others too - KateF, JZed and PuffMTW also show similar odd spikes.

Mine through there is fine, so no idea, I am using it on my android phone though not a garmin

Think this chap has come passed me a few times. If not him one of the other Sigma Sport riders. My heart rate hits 185bpm as I try and latch on, manage around 30 seconds and then collapse at the side of the road.

I've noticed more poor data since I updated my android app a week ago or so. cuts out a little more on a satellite dead spot in wythenshawe. previously it would keep going and pick up a mile later. also seems to be fewer data points (need to verify this) resulting in less smooth graphs and false readings on the very very short segments.
anyone else find strava can't so maths? I pass a 10 ish sec segment every day. myself and another have 30mph+ stats but neither goes close to that at any point if you look at the graphs or top speed!

Think the phone apps grab the first point from when you're in the segment & do no interpolation. Can see this when you view it.

Created a couple more segments for the Queen's Ride/Bolan Bridge dash:

The balls-out effort tonight left me wheezing. I don't think that's good.

Hmmm says I am 0 seconds behind you then it jumps to 3 seconds!

Either or I will be trying to take that one, along with Priory Rd and the ones through the middle of the park, and the one up Spankers (I thought I had done it before, but its not matched it)!!!

Which is exactly what CJ does when he gets a good run down LRR, and over Bolan :) Not just one new segment either!

    +1.

For some reason the segment isn't loading a leaderboard though.

Did he have to create the second longer one because he got beaten by a girl on the shorter one? Nice going on the whole segment tho, good speed!

    Mine is a 1.05 ;)

You'd think Terpstra and Sybrandy would be able to afford more than just the Garmin 500!?! ;)

Not quite sure what you mean by that. The head unit really depends what power system they're running. Anyway they'd never have a brick of a 800 during a race when there's a 500 with a much smaller form factor...

Maybe they think the 800 is overkill unless you're touring? Nice bit of kit, but not sure you'd need any of the extras for a race.

    I spotted that. Zoiks!

Been meaning to create one because I've not seen one in the results, but I don't think I've looked hard enough.

This was the only section last night where I could gun it and it nearly finished me off. The chap on the Spesh waiting at the URR lights must have considered calling the emergency services or the RSPCA when he turned round to check what was making that noise.

Both rides were apparently uploaded with Garmin 500's, according to connect and Strava, but it was just a tongue in cheek remark!! :)

I bought a 500 to supplement my 705, the latter's just a bit overkill for commuting with. Plus it was cheap.
