Not that small then! Some of the others climber types in kw are closer to 60.

And I had to slow for a dog that ran in-front of my path near the start. I had contemplated running the dog over, but then I realised I was taking strava too seriously and so slowed, let him run past and then gave him a woof

Good speed. You caught the lights well then? A few were on for a flyer until a 30-0 to give the pram some room on the ped-x.
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

Face lights up when strava tells me I got a KOM, only to find I have to share that glory with CJ!

Although with that wind I can't see either of them standing past tonight.

    Where's this?

Thats the problem with so many of the segments down the strip. You have to not only have the right wind and right legs but you also have to be so lucky with the lights. If they could just close the road for a while so we could have a proper go at some of the segments that would be ideal.

Decent couple of rides today. PR on Evelyn Street this morning. Second fastest time over London Bridge north this evening. Another crack at College Road to Fountain Drive, for the third time running bang on 3 minutes - I guess my form is consistent, and should be plenty more to come later in the year (still only a week back from 2 week holiday and no long rides since). Final effort was a first attempt at Beckenham Road - what a lung buster that is! More or less flat with a few bumps, but a decent length to sustain the power, I was breathing heavily by the roundabout - 3rd overall, having had to stop at the Tesco lights, KOM within reach with a clear run / tailwind / draft! :D

Good effort. Annoyed to be off the bike due to injury and missing the recent tailwinds home :(

    From a few pages back:

Yeah, it would be good if they told you how far off your best you are on each segment without having to drilldown into each one.

I decided to send this request to the Strava team (they quite like feature requests). Just heard back:
Thanks for the feedback. This would be a pretty cool feature actually and it's something I would like to see as well without having to look at the segment page. I'll be sure to share this with the team.

So it might make it through to a Strava near you... or some such.

Happened to drive up Blackheath Hill at the weekend & thought what a steep little hill to climb, so decided to have a crack at it last night. Ouch - bad idea! Its not one you can really get a run at with all the traffic merging and after that its a slog to the top. Muscles at the front just above my knees (quadriceps?) were agony. Managed a 10th overall but I think there's more to come if I get the gearing right, a clearer run and maybe come out the seat a bit. That is one steep hill!

Blackheath Village Hill on the other hand is just a short sprint, should be another couple of seconds in that one Mr Freeman ;)

I concentrated my efforts on the longer one, so I think I should be able to do a decent time on this one if I don't gun it along LRR.

Dodgy old segment that Blackheath village though as its always super busy with peds and cars! Loads more in it with a clear run maybe a 30mph average as its sooo short!

Blackheath Hill is a pretty steep little hill haven't done it for ages so should be able to improve it a little but doubt I will ever get my KOM back as a 20mph is pretty impressive up it compared to my 17mph the traffic leading upto it doesn't help either.

Why in the name of holy f*ck is there not a reliable 3 lap segment for RP (ideally from Roehampton)? They're either broken, or only seem to register 1 lap. Annoying. Must remember to hit the lap button on the Edge.

Its almost not worth using it in the park if you're doing laps. One lap see's you match 200+ segments! Mental.

Idiot's question re Garmin / laps - if I just press start at the beginning of my ride, do 3 laps and then press stop, I'll be able to work out how long it took me, right? Aiming to get down there one night next week or even early morning at the weekend. Last time I was there all I had was a stopwatch...

You can change your auto-lap settings so that a lap start is from the first time you hit the lap button...

ETA: On Garmin 500 the option is under Settings>Bike Settings>Auto Lap>By Position

It is WAY harder to motivate myself when I've no flightdeck readout on a Garmin below me. WAY WAY WAY harder. While the garmin might encourage trying all the way home, an iphone in the pocket means pootling at 22-24 and waiting for some challenger to approach. PS where were you all?

Whoa, I'm surprisingly high on that segment.
