+1. Perceived effort and all that, although I do have my eyes on a Garmin 500 with HRM.

Just trying to find numbers I'll be near the top of the chart with :).

I do this. I create my own, private segments where I'm constantly KOM.

    Nice!
It would be better if you could share with selected people only. You'd then choose people you can beat easily so it makes you look good against the 'competition'.

I promised myself I wouldn't run strava every commute as my legs at the moment are on the edge all the time as I get some kind of fitness back. It's just too tempting to run myself ragged, fun though.

Good going, but you didn't do it on the segment along there that counts:

    The segment that counts? Pah!

I was annoyingly held up at the start (see my speed graph). Reckon I might have taken a few seconds off that (reached a max speed of 38mph). Enjoy the tailwind home!

Managed to knock a second off Amersham Way this evening, so quite happy with myself. Is there more to come? We'll see, it wasn't too hard this run, more of a pain avoiding cars & bikes getting in the way for a smooth ride  30 secs might be too much for me though but will have fun trying :)

Beat the hour mark for 3 laps! :D
58.45. It's good for me anyhow.

Small bit of drafting, small bit of being held up by cars. Couldn't really help either given how busy it was.
Bit of competition on the first lap, picked up a fairy for 3/4 of the 2nd lap and then made to MTFU by a guy on a TT/Tri bike and his fixed(?!) mate

I'm sure you'll get it back! Not racing Hog Hill, I'm not a climber and it shows! Was at Gravesend this weekend and its a great course, so I think I'll try and get there a bit more.

Cool, like the look of Gravesend, we were meant to go last weekend but too tired from ski holiday (excuses, excuses!). Not so sure about Hog Hill, not cycled it before, looks urm, hilly...(i.e. i'll likely get dropped and have a lovely quasi-time-trial session while everyone else is racing!)

I've had 'achievements' for every one of my rides since I started using strava.

Was worried the headwind this morning was going to put pay to that.

Luckily, someone created some ridiculous segment up Queen Victoria Street over the weekend. Pointless, but I keep my 'achievements' record. Just.

I had the dreaded no achievements message today but I'll take keeping up with nsb who didn't appear to be trying as one

I don't seem to have had any achievements for ages, then suddenly two KOMs this week. Must be Spring.

I haven't been getting "achievements" all the time, even when I have, ahem, achieved stuff - three KOM's and a 2nd place up Fountain Drive last night and my dashboard says nada :(

I've had some of these recently. I've wondered if they're just better off saying "You're shite. Speed up."

Would be more balanced that way - could do with the occasional "Mat came a pathetic 97th out of 115 with his slowest time in months" or "Wahey, you're really not a big deal - all the genuinely fast people are busy racing" for extra motivation!

Yeah, it would be good if they told you how far off your best you are on each segment without having to drilldown into each one.

Merely allowing others to get their hopes up before brutally crushing them with devastating pace. ;) Sadly will have to wait for tomorrow as have a conference/drinks today and am on PT.

Not a big fan of the Millbank segments, despite being KoM on one of the southbound and joint KoM on the northbound. The north-bound is traffic light dependent and ends very close to Lambeth Bridge roundabout where there's usually a bus stopping or at least dawdling. The south-bound segments all finish very close to the traffic lights and with usual traffic you have to jam on long before hitting the endpoint of the segment. Had a bash at South last night but got caught up behind an MPV just after getting up to speed, still tried to hold a decent pace until the end of the segment and found out I did the last bit at 7mph.

Seems Strava has changed its interpolation or filtering mechanism slight, either that or the GPS signals have changed somewhat. Almost every ride I do through the Blackfriars Tunnel shows a massive spike in where I've been, and it seems to be happening to others too - KateF, JZed and PuffMTW also show similar odd spikes.

Wondering if it is "assuming" or getting misreadings on coming out of the tunnel(s) as this happened on both Westminster Bridge Road (where I got caught at the lights under the railway for ages) and the Blackfriars Underpass ( ;) ) where I regularly lose tracking going through. Then when sats are seen again, its not getting a proper fix.
