Yeah, it's a good stretch. I rode that way tonight as it happens as I fancied a change, so created a segment for this tonight. The problem with it is that the possibility of deer on the path means you're likely to hold back.

yeh I guess, its one for the light.

got a link to the one you created as I can't see it and I don't think I follow you on strava?

    Here: http://app.strava.com/segments/864065

I mis-read your post, though; I read Robin Hood Gate into it for some reason, so that's the one I created.

Ha, I had a blast at it tonight... ;) reckon I've easily got the pens pods to ham cross in my
Locker too, will go for that later in the week.

Good effort. I discovered the Ballet Hill segment when I arrived home tonight...

Ahh, thats a KOM I think I can steal from Steve, he would hate that ;)

I have never given that full beans tbh, bear in mind that some of those segments will be done fastest by people that are not in commuting attire, so extra kudos for doing it with a rucksack. But I reckon I can get that one and Ham cross when I have my next blast.

Created an eastbound segment for Ham Cross-Pen Ponds. As Sean Kelly would say, I was giving it a "majorly" effort. Just not as well as Mr Kelly would do it...

Backpack or no backpack, I would need a motorised vehicle to beat Steve Irwin up any hill.

I almost had him up a small incline the other night, not quite though. Certainly a fast rider. Annoyingly so, as he has perfected the art of making it look like he's putting in no effort to maintain 30 mph.

He came past me at a hilarious speed in RP in September. He was on his TT bike, but I didn't even have time to spot which brand of bike he was on. I wasn't pootling, either.

Despite sinking two bottles of vino last night and feeling rough as a badgers this morning, my legs actually felt ok, so gave it a blast :)

My best ride in for a while. I had 3/4 bibs on for this period but today put the shorts back on and immediately felt more lively. Had a good run at the Jamaica Rd Sprint & unfortunately traffic was pants on Tower Bridge (lots of cops about?).

Mind you, the other night after company drinks I also had a couple of good segments but that was probably more due to lighter traffic than the ability to ride hard when inebriated...

Splendid effort. But I wouldn't put your slippers on and get comfortable up there if I were you.

Damn it! Thought I had the "Bromley Rd to Lewisham High Street" segment in the bag. Green lights all round, bit of a tail wind, nicely warmed up from a couple of hours of sunrise training...

Seems GPS let me down this time:

Two CS7 KOM's and a 3rd place this morning thanks to the tailw... uh, Power Awesome.
    And generally rapid

Surprisingly the ride home averaged 18mph too. Think the hare on the SS Viner (floosy?) down Embankment helped

What a bad day to have my first long commute home.
I'm near the bottom of nearly every segment along the embankment
Still, something to aim at for the rest of the year.

    Couple of questions:
    - Do you find the Garmins better than the phone apps? I've got a Garmin 500, but don't normally use it for commute.
    - When using the phone app, any tips for getting a signal. Fine in the morning, but takes ages in the city.

.. and created my first segment yesterday, Burntwood Lane (Earlsfield-Wandsworth)
Surprised it wasn't already there as usually a clear run uphill.

Wow, I did not know there were so many segments on CS7. I don't use strava when commuting, but if I did, I can see how it could get addictive...

The only current CS7 segment I would not fancy my chances on is Balham Hill - Matt Hammond has a time that I could not overhaul on my fixed commuting rig*.

*Unless a tame 249 bus driver towed me all the way up at 35mph and did not stop!

I suspect you could go a fair way to mapping at least the UK using Strava!

    Hello,

I'm asking similar questions to this all over the place so apologies, this seems like an appropriate thread.

I'm looking to get a reasonably priced GPS device so I can get involved with Strava.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the Holux GPsport 245 or 260 to obtain data for use in strava. I understand there is no direct support for this device and data has to be upoloaded manually.

How much of a ball ache is this? Is it better to spend more money and get a Garmin instead? Though that really isn't an option to be honest.

Uploading a file from a memory stick/removable drive is very simple. As long as the device stores your trips in a recognised format and is viewable by a PC as a drive, then its just as simple as a full Garmin upload.
