Nice, particularly with it being so cold. I predict there's going to be some stonking times on the segments along Millbank when it warms up a bit and the wind's in the right direction. Must defend my KoM on the one and get the KoM on the other two, particularly now Garmin 800 is ready to be installed on bike so hopefully no more missed segments
Lets hope they soon sort out the accuracy thing as its annoying how wrong it often is as we've covered before.
Rob, the roads were fine last night, should have come along. Was chilly on the feet though.
Looking at a comparison between me and Ed, I was ahead of him by 3 seconds near the end, then it has me as slowing right down and him then going on to take it by 6 seconds. Maybe I slowed to early, but it almost looks like its carried on tracking me beyond the finish point! So watch out EdBlog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0 -
I rode in late aas I had to go to the dentist. I was on the rigid MTB and was pootling. I took a slightly differennt route through Bushy Park as I was on knobblies and have discovered a segment I didn't know was there. I'm only 1mph down on the KOM. So I should be able to take that with a bit of effort.0

haha, yeh, you need a little help to go really quick down there. I can't remember what the wind was like on my best attempt, but 38 mph was my max, so it must have been favorable!Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0

I got my first KOM this morning, off road in the snow. I discovered a rarely used segment yesterday and thought it was an easy target. Built up a bit of speed for the start and had a bit of a moment with the transition from grass to path all being hidden under the snow. Thought I'd better take the snow covered corners a bit more cautiously. Then realised there were probably too many dog walkers around so thought I would just ride normally. Checked Strava on my phone and I'm top of the pile*.
That was on a rigid mountain bike with large knobblies. The Jake should be a bit quicker along there, but it's awaiting new chainrings and has the wrong tyres.

i did consider not posting the segment. It's an easy one to take, but I figure not many people will go that way.0

Well it wasn't James Free. Which one of you bar stewards is Paul Hunter?
Well I was top of a small dung heap for a little over 8 hours. I don't think I'll top your average along there, even on the Jake. Too many dog walkers and not enough mtfu.0 -

I'm suprised since bar your self it's a sea of hi vis hybrids. my wife incuded!
I almost never go that way unless i'm having a potter, have picked up a icecream in the summer say.
Got my own KOM though I'm still the only person to have riden it, which is fair enought as the hill is
a) in a quiet area
b) is stuipidly steep, to the point even some of the locals will not drive on it, it's main fame locally is a bus attempted to go down it many years back and ended up in one of the houses on the hairpin bend, as the brakes couldn't hold it. in the bedroom of one of the girls of my school didn't improve her rather dour expression, which she still has....0 -

That'd be me, the combination of new Garmin and discovering Strava has certainly brought a new dimension to the tired old commuting routes! The appearance of a few sections in Bushey was to much to resist so took a slight detour to give them a thrashing on the Day 01.
Not that I was particularly trying to beat any particular time you understand as I'm given to believe that it's not a raceMarmalade0 -
Excellent, fair play. That's a rather circuitous route to work, looks fun though. As I said, I doubt I could match that speed along there. Might have a go, just out of curiosity of course.
Welcome aboard by the way.0 -
Cheers for the welcome, reckon I was pretty fortunate yesterday with that bit of track in Bushy as the runners and dog walkers were conspicuous by their absence. I ride it a fair bit, usually in the other direction though.
And yes, my commuting route has become increasingly convoluted, usually on the way in, extending the direct 7ish miles to 25-30+ (http://app.strava.com/rides/3985149) miles helps to keep the beer/curry/gut ratio in order and is pretty much the only time I have free to give the legs a decent stretch. Having said that, I been telling myself I’ll tag along with one of the Kingston Wheeler Sunday rides for months, I’ll have to MTFU and do that soon.
But for now, I’ve got to try and give the segments in and around RP a decent attempt, some of those times are crazy fast!Marmalade0 -

Snap, am intending to tomorrow. Fancy it?0 -
Tomorrow isn't a goer for me due to a prior engagement, but I’m giving next Sunday some serious consideration. They look like a decent bunch, think they would tolerate a hairy legged 40 year old on a CX bike tagging along?Marmalade0

It's the wheelers early time trial tomorrow so club runs may differ a bit.
Nice lot I was member for a few years until recently gave up as I didn't use the club. With swinley etc I've gone back to mtb. I don't really do road stuff.0 -

Grrrr added some privacy settings and its removed a KOM from near my house!!0

Loampit Hill there for the taking this morning, roadworks on the run up meant that the usual traffic-fest was all behind me and I had a nice clear run, alas I got my gearing wrong and ended up grinding up, unable to really stand and sprint due to a wet greasy road. Don't know for sure until I upload the Garmin this evening, but I fear a glorious opportunity missed. Still, if traffic the same tomorrow morning I may have another go...0
