BTW what's with some of the RP segments, several showing real f*cked up speeds ATM...

The only one that counts* is bang on.

*The time for one-lap of the MTB track.

I seem to have ended up as KoM as the only rider on hill that doesn't exist. 800w or something!
Is there anyway I can remove myself from it?

note that it you get put in both Anti and CW segments at the moment!

I've been taking the Tasmin Trail with the SS mostly in the dark, great fun though nowhere nr as fast as you!

Hold a KOM comfortably for ages & then 2 different people challenge it on the same night! Surrey Quays/Deptford Drag & Stuart comes in a second behind me and another friend about 6 seconds. Stuart - were you racing someone? I put in a mid 3.40s on that stretch myself but about 30 mins before you guys.

Over Christmas lost a KOM to someone who's ride appears for the first time since Aug 2010! Guess he must have found Strava...

There were one or two vaguely threatening people around so I was keeping the pace high. That said, with the amount of Ibuprofen I've been chomping through, I'm having trouble differentiating between the real and the imaginary.

Are you going to be able to race at the weekend?
  • Anyone else using this via smart phones noticing that when stopped, the GPS signal trace shows erroneous speeds which fluctuate around 0.4-2mph? This plays havok with average speed recordings as this is then counted in the calculation. Garmin users have a nice option to clamp a minimum speed setting of say 3 mph and anything under isn't counted. This makes you look well faster than you really are! :p

realistically I'd not worry about it, the moving average is in many ways a load of old cobblers any how.

Have you seen how many miles the leading of the "Strava Base Miles" has done

I was quite happy with 200 so far :?

I'm on 225 and that ranks me 200th or so out of 5 thousand people...

I've done 330 miles so far this year, so I guess it looks like I'll be on track to do a fair amount if I carry it on!

She actually works for Strava too...silly bint, what is she playing at.

The flag you reported on Cross-Country drive Day 1! has been resolved.

Hi Rob - Yep that is right. I work for Strava and I'm recording my trip across the country on my Garmin. don't worry, I know to label all the drives as workouts to keep them from interfering with cycling leaderboards. Elle

    Thanks for flagging!

  • http://app.strava.com/rides/1950903#32010632 also looks rather suspect. Not sure what's going on with her elevation graph showing downhill on the stretch and her speed about 20-30 despite the average being 64.3.

Anyhoo. Beasted myself over a stretch this eve to try an make up 8 seconds over a min and half. Found out that the satellite didn't get me till waaay after the usual dead spot. Gutted.

Hmm, might have to take a look into that.
Strava still does a simple Distance/Time calculation, so even if you auto-pause on the Garmin (e.g. at traffic lights), Strava uses the total time. Anyone know how you can get Strava to show Moving Average rather than just Average?

Moving time bar rasing the avergage for bragging rights I don't see much point in it for the commute traffic lights and traffic will reduce your average speed. even if you crop the sub 4mph off.

If out on a club run and you sit gassing about bike porn at the cafe for a hour then I can see the point and what I guess what it was intended for.

Strava does moving time average I believe. If not, I must have been really flying last night to record a 19mph average even taking account of my 20 minute stop to mend a puncture in the dark (and then search for my glasses in a hedge).

It shows moving average, it doesn't show real average.

so having just looked at your commute today, your real average was 13.05 mph, your moving average was the one displayed at 15.9 mph.

heh fair point, mind you this mourning apparently I rode close on 19 miles into london with out having to stop once accourding to Strava it also thinks my max speed was 50mph....I always though the embankment felt fast!

In that case Connect and Strava disagree about how to calculate averages! Will post an example later.

My Garmin Connect avg speed is always a little higher that Strava its between 0.2mph to 0.9mph.

Had a good run into work being Saturday has pro's and con's for segments as the traffic is nice and light only issue is my legs are well and truly knackered after a solid 2 weeks of riding everyday! They struggled halfway up Col Du Balham and was suprised to get some KOM's today even on a segment I was'nt go for it (the wind helped)
